Yeah, I find the conversation about Kodama no Jikan more than a little creepy. I have a lot of strong opinions and am generally speaking not afraid to wade into a waist high pile of internet shit to defend them, but sexualized little animu girls is a topic that makes me feel like I'm in the middle of a minefield and my metal detector just ran out of batteries. I'm not sure where exactly I draw the line, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter because the best answer is to shut the fuck up and wait for someone to change the topic please dear god someone change the topic.
But yes, Kodama no Jikan is not a self-aware deconstruction. It's an indulgence. It may or may not have some redeeming artistic merit to go along with the fanservice (I don't plan to watch it and find out), but that definitely doesn't change the fact that there's a bunch of fanservice and it's really only there for fanservice's sake. It is meant to be titilatting in exactly the same way as every other ecchi anime ever made. Whether or not it's porn or not is entirely an argument about the definition of porn, which is never an argument worth having, and judging by maglag's latest post not one he's even remotely equipped to have anyway.
But I am also really hesitant to cast stones over what people are or are not attracted to, particularly in the realm of highly stylized depictions of fictional persons. I mean, page 1 of this thread includes the suggestion that To Aru no Railgun needs more lesbian sexy times between the two main characters, one of whom is fifteen, and not "overdeveloped anime highschool girl" fifteen. Whether your metric is apparent age or mental age, that is probably going to be over any line you attempt to draw - and yet I really don't feel justified in calling Josh or Koumei disgusting perverts. They are probably just the regular kind of totally non-threatening, relatively morally upstanding perverts. Of course, fifteen isn't nine (the age of Kodomo no Jikan's characters), so there's that. And somewhere in the middle of that we have characters like To-Love Ru's Mikan, who is apparently 12?
God, anime is creepy. I want to go back to not thinking about the age of characters in ecchi anime. That'd be much better for my mental health.

Personally, I don't think lolicon anime or hentai are in any way bad or make you a bad person. So long as you don't go around raping actual kids or watching real CP, all you are doing is masturbating to fictional characters who by definition don't exist and can not be harmed by your actions in any way shape or form ever.

Yes, well, try and defend that in ausfailia for example, where such content is already not a legal grey zone anymore.
And i think the UK is of a similar mind.
And maybe one or more european states, but i am not sure about that at the moment and i am highly hesistant to google such things at work for some reason . .
Girls und Panzer got a new series/season? announced.
Tankservice!
I just hope it is better quality and does less of the disgusting CGI <.<

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.
EDIT: Directed at the German talking about country mores, not the person defending kiddy porn anime:
Yeah but like, I live in the US where a black person not standing during the National Anthem is a BAD THING THAT MUST BE PUNISHED! according to popular conception, so like... fuck general consensus of a country on social mores?
For me the only real question is "Does Lolicon hentai/anime increase the number of child sexual assault/rapes?" and while I couldn't possibly tell you the answer to that, and it's still always going to squick me out, I'm willing to believe that the answer is no until someone presents evidence otherwise.

I just watched the the Dragonball Z x One Piece x that other anime crossover special, and despite knowing nothing about One Piece or the other anime, I still found it quite enjoyable, in a zany kind of way. I especially liked the description of the cow that the densetsu* meat is made from.

Thanks for the note!!
But, on that note, I really enjoyed it.
Totally unrelated to the above, I suggest that everyone never watches "The Sacred Blacksmith". It is a bunch of katana fetish combined with idiots. Waste of time.
Peace favour your sword.

MGRP is one of those shows I enjoyed because it is earnestly stupid, like a puppy. Can't really fuck with MadoMagi or Yuuki Yuuna in my eyes, but it gave the old college try.
The LNs apparently get pretty in depth on the state of global magical girls and junk.

Pretty much all anime is earnestly stupid like a puppy dog. MGRP seemed less so, in that I genuinely didn't know which way it was going to go, and the characters actually had to outsmart eachother, whereas a lot of anime just relies on 11th hour superpowers to resolve conflicts.
I will say that the criteria for selection of the magical girls makes absolutely no sense, unless it's from the perspective of a writer crafting a story. It would have worked better if the "competition" was just a wager between the two big bads rather than the motivation being just plain old garble-brained lunacy.

The most dangerous game is man. The most entertaining game is Broadway Puppy Ball. The most weird game is Esoteric Bear.

Yes, but your description is oddly useless because "guy falls into an RPG land" is its own genre of light novels.OgreBattle wrote:Is that the manga about the guy transplanted to RPG land and he drags a goddess in with them
Megumin is from Konosuba, one of the few really good examples of the genre. Because Konosuba is a comedy and doesn't try to be anything but a comedy.

Darkness/Lalatina is my favourite for comedic moments (and for waifu quality), but Megumin is bro-tier, she would be a great adventuring buddy and drinking buddy. All you have to do is buy the booze for her and be an enabler for her love of Explosion spells.
KonoSuba is a great series for the season, and despite being based more on your MMO type RPGs, it possibly surpasses Slayers in terms of "Forget Record of Lodoss War, this is literally every D&D game".
