When I see a GM saying he wants a low-magic game, in my experience that usually means "NPC magicians can summon armies of the dead, PC magicians can light a torch or levitate a flower pot".Mechalich wrote:With regards to 'low magic' in D&D specifically, I find that what a lot of people want isn't actually low magic as in ASOIAF magic levels, but lower magic than D&D, and especially 3.X or PF D&D provides.

I think this is why E6 was/is somewhat popular, since 3rd level spells mark a point where people enjoy a wide range of iconic, magical abilities but aren't able to destroy the setting within a single session. For the most part, anyway.

Yeah, I do that to my friends. And by "friends" I mean "people I hate slightly less than the others".FrankTrollman wrote:It's cruel, and not a thing one of your friends should do.
Regarding the "adult situations" and "grim and gritty", I have found that usually means someone who consumes too much violent media and/or porn that doesn't get out a lot wants to have a fap at my expense. The last thing I want to do is fap to a morbidly obese sperglord pretending to be a hyper-breasted kitsune. Occasionally, with Rape.
