Fuck that one jump in the starting stage (the one with the beetle on a narrow platform after a long jump).

FUCK IT WITH A GIANT DRILL DICK.

Edit: I speak of the Plague Knight DLC in case anyone was wondering.

Yeah, that opening stage is very much "You must learn how to do THIS".

Died an embarrassing number of times there.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Been playing some Touhou, specifically 6 and 10. As per it's reputation, it has only female characters and is ungodly hard. Your enemies have magical powers and like to cast "transmute screen to bullets". I'm told that there's a giant difficulty spike in level 5. I wouldn't know; I've never gotten there.

I've been playing NBA 2k16's career mode, which was created with input from Spike Lee. A lot of people have been bitching about this mode on the grounds that the cut scenes in no way reflect how they would conduct themselves should they suddenly find themselves to be top flight NBA prospects. These people are dumb killjoys and I hate them. They should be embracing this glorious opportunity to play out the dreams of a 7 foot tall white dude who doesn't realize he's adopted.

I've been playing Ultima 7, and it's still one of the greatest computer RPG ever. Not sure I can tell exactly why, but it is.

Hurrah, I'm not the biggest noob in Touhou ever!

A dirty trick for Touhou 10: Play Marisa B, charge up only to three lasers, then fire away unfocused. The game will still be hard to beat, but you may be able to reach stage 5.

Less dirty advice: don't move too much. There's openings in the enemy patterns. Most bullets are only lethal if your character's center touches the bullet's center, so you can "graze" shot barrages where there should be no escape route. And you'll even earn extra points for the trouble. And extra points in Touhou 6 earns you extra lifes.

Save your bombs for those "OMGHOWAREYOUSUPPOSEDTODODGETHAT" moments. But if you screw up, bomb up anyway.

Touhou 8, Imperishable Night, should be less brutal for beginners, because it's specially generous with extra lifes and bombs, and Death Bombing is also easier (in Touhou you don't die instantly, there's a fraction of second you remain alive and can activate a bomb. In Touhou 8 that time is increased across the board, and is actually over a second for team Reimu). Also has several of the most popular characters packaged together for convenience's sake. And multiple routes.

I don't recall when was the last time I played Touhou. I generally got to the last boss on 6 but then ran out of lives.

I went through a Touhou phase. I think I was able to get to the end of 8 without continuing, but I could never get the good ending.

Stage 3's boss would like a word with you.

Meiling turned out to be surprisingly difficult for me, and she's the third boss of Touhou 6...

Pfftt, Touhou 11 has the second stage boss already pack several extra-evil spellcards. Although then Zun decided to start pulling back his punches because damn that game was hard even by Touhou standards.

Meiling's still pretty nasty with her rainbow storms. However if you manage to avoid having any epileptic attacks, her shots at least have a constant rythm and you just need to follow her tempo.

Or just shotgun her ass. Marisa's master spark MASTAH SPARKO can almost one-shot Meiling's spellcards.

But then you arrive at the magic library and oh gods so many traps...

I stopped playing last year after 1ccing most of the games on Lunatic, but since Touhou 15 and TouhouCon I've been getting back in the groove. It seems like a great year for Touhou in general and I haven't even played 14.5 yet.

Best general advice I can give is to use practice mode. Fighting Meiling five times is faster and more informative than failing a 1cc.

I forgot there was a Practice Mode.

Then again, I haven't had time for half of my games lately.

Rpgmaker MV is coming

They brought back some features from RM2k3

Maps now have three layers (why they took that away in the first place is odd)

That race is brutal. The way I had to do it was memorize the track, find the jumps and then stuff like hug the inside of the curves, especially that big one near the end where there's that dip in the wall.

Basically, the other Gorons are faster on a straight line so you have to go with path efficiency to win.

Or you grab a bottle of the magic milk from the cow girl and remain in super spiked mode all the time. Which was what I did the first time I played the game and realized the other gorons were indeed faster than me in normal mode.

?

Spiked Mode just lets you vaguely keep up. You still have to hit the jumps (to cut out the hills) and cut your corners.

So the new Lego game, Lego Dimensions, features GLaDOS. Including a new song by her.

This makes me happy. I still feel bad about murdering her.

MM = Majora's Mask?

I've never not beaten the Goron races in that one... I don't remember how I did it. I miss Majora's Mask, that's my favorite Zelda game...

Armikrog finally came out - a game from the developer of Earthworm Jim and the Neverhood Chronicles. It's a claymation point-and-click with a great soundtrack. I haven't played it yet, but I'm pretty hiped.

The theme song of Neverhod. A cover by a metal band.
