Ancient History wrote: The Drum of Kadakalan ($Priceless) is a mystical artifact from the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. WTF, we're three-for-three on the mystical items here, and once again we're not even in Asia proper. Anyway, the Drum has two magic powers: 1) if you hit it, it is very loud, deafening and disorienting people within 250 meters.
Wow, no joke!

Warning: video contains a lot of gonging

As a brief follow-up, it turns out there is actually a TSR World of Indiana Jones adventure called "The Fourth Nail."

The placement of some of the little bumfuck islands may be in question, but the Philippines is very much Asia. Not the Eurasian continental expanse, but still Asia. If you wanna get snippy, Russia's more Asia than Europe, given how it spans a good chunk of the Eurasian continent.

Interestingly, The Adventures of Indiana Jones Role-Playing Game actually lets you play as Indiana Jones, and actually has no rules for creating original characters. You have to use their pre-generated movie characters to play.

Oddly, the mythological Fourth Nail was intended to pierce Jesus's heart, which completely defeats the point of Cruxification as a slow and torturous execution method.

How good are Indiana Jones' stats in that one then? And wouldn't everyone want to play him while saying "fuck that" to the other options?

68 Strength
80 Movement
76 Prowess
72 Backbone
80 Instinct
88 Appeal

D100 Roll-under.

He's a jack of all trades character, terrible at nothing, but not really great at anything.
He also lacks the Lockpicking, Piloting, and First Aid knowledges.

Salah is stronger. Marrion is braver and more attractive. Short Round is more skilled in combat, but lacks default weapons.

He has the best Instinct of all the available PCs, which is the stat you roll to know how screwed you are in any given situation.

Also, his Appeal is only 4 points lower than the women's, so he's a heck of a lot better than Willie Scott.

So is the optimal way to play to give the child Indie's gun and have him kill people?

Tangentially, one of the many things that disappointed me about Crystal Skull was that the son figure wasn't Short Round played by Chow Yun-Fat.

Instead we got sweaty beef.
Is this wretched demi-bee
Half asleep upon my knee
Some freak from a menagerie?
No! It's Eric, the half a bee

No. Because shooting requires you to look up Hit locations on a chart, and even a hit to the head with the highest possible wound level isn't automatically disabling.

Your best bet is actually to give Short Round a blackjack. You don't check for hit locations when brawling with blunt weapons (brawling with sharp weapons is a bit confusing), so any injury counts at a head injury. A blackjack automatically increases damage by 2 levels, and there are only 3 damage levels.

So give Short Round a blackjack and if he hits at all (80 or lower without modifiers) then the target's attributes are all automatically cut in half and he has to make a strength check, at half strength, to stay conscious.

Wu Han is actually better, though, with 84 Prowess. He's the best fighter in the game.

The fact that Short Round knows karate also makes him the only character who can make disarm attacks, and other magical tea party special combat actions without penalty. Which is nice.
