Proffession - what's yours'?
I know we have a pre-med, and a pre-law writing material here. What does everyone else do?
Personally - in school for an undergrad degree in Electrical Engineering. Working for the US Navy in the Simulation department (Internship).
how about the rest of you?

Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
I've changed college plans so many times... I originally went to engineering school, but decided that I wanted a little more variety in my classes, so I came home and studied botany and ecology. When I moved in with my husband, I attended the college across the street and ended up majoring in Middle Eastern Studies and Comparative Religion.
I'm currently a wife.

My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.

I will be a wastewater treatment plant operator until the 16th of september, at which point I will multiclass into college student/slacker.
In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.
Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
I've been an aerospace engineering major, then went into database programming, and have taken courses (currently) in animation and language. My last job was in toys/games retail and the last couple years I've been doing game design analysis. (online games for moggchart.com)
Now... I need to choose some new courses at school and maybe get, ya know, a paying job ^-^

I WAS a computer scientist, working mostly in programming a strange combination of online advertising and embedded micro controller crap.
But after I discovered no one in the country apparently wanted to recognize my years of specialist experience and give me an actual job (after my first one pretty much evaporated) I moved into my nifty new career.
As a specialist wholesale/retail nurseryman.

Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
Physics undergrad, part-time computer technician. I also help in the two family businesses of Art Supplies and Digital Printing. I'll probably end up having my own Art Supplies store (yes, this has nothing at all to do with my degree. Fvcking Greek educational system)

Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
Two things.
Though the degree I finished at Uni was Computer Science, the degree I started was plain old Science based on the advanced Maths and Physics courses.
Ever since I was a little boy I have aspired to the career of the full time house wife.
Though, of course, I would prefer my husband to be a woman.

Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
Started out doing engineering. Didn;t work out, changed degrees, nearly flunked out of uni, saved the day for myself with a lucky break.
Currently an 'IT consultant' for a small consulting firm which means I really do everything that no-one else is doing right now. Gets your exposure up atleast Want to go back to uni part time and do a masters of something, preferably economics, but I don;t think they will let me in due to not having done it undergrad so I'll probably do an MBA instead.
I note with amusement here that virtually everyone is comp sci, engineering or hard science, at least to start.

For the next twelve days I will be finishing up my 2 year sentence as a 3rd shift stock clerk at Mars grocery store. Then another semester of community college. After that I'll be a certified Medical Biller/Coder.
One day I hope to be a Clinical Psychologist with a private practice.

Re: Profession - what's yours'?
Biology Major (Plant Genetics, was planning on a Masters and working for Monsanto... but decided against at the 11th hour)
Telemetry Night Shift Technician (watch a zillion heart monitors for patients overnight, I can interpret EKGs better than most doctors, cardiac or non).
I'm hopeful to be a house-husband and homeschool teacher someday since my wife finally got an accountanting job (she graduated 2 years ago and I've been supporting her since then).
[edit: Aspirations are either to breeze through nursing school and be an ER RN, or administrative type, or get a Masters in Medical Management and be an administrative type. I like telling people what to do but for now I am happy to be slumming it in telemetry.]

Re: Profession - what's yours'?
Illustrator studying at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and design, seconding that with Animation courses. Hoping to be a concept artist for film and games.
It was either a design career, or something in Physics. I wanted something where I could be visually creative.

No. I had to disclose it to my principal, but he was cool with it. About half-a-dozen of the teachers I work closely with and/or went to college with know that I bartend.
Interestingly, my wife-to-be used to teach inner city kids. She told her kids if they asked that her boyfriend was a bartender. It gave her whatever the high school equivalent of "street cred" is with the wanna-be thugs and gangsters she worked with.

Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
I've basically been a college student for the past 5 years. I started out wanting to major in biomedical engineering, but didn't make the grade. Then I considered training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (that is, the Party's version of Classical Chinese Medicine) , and took some psychology to meet requirements for that program. This got me into psychology, which resulted in me taking a "Math Models of Human Behavior" class, which got me into taking computer science classes.
Now I'm on (approximately) my 4th year of classes, and trying desperately to graduate by means of a 'design your own major'. But now that my live-in girlfriend has her microbiology degree, I'm thinking of trying to do a last-minute focus on bioinformatics (almost full circle)...

You are? I wonder if you have ever heard of the wonderful wines of my local region, the Long Island region of New York State. There are a lot of very good wines produced in the region. We even have a meadery.
Re: Proffession - what's yours'?
There's more than one meadery in Santa Cruz County, where Frank hails from. And the Bonny Doon label puts out of really good stuff.

Let's see. I'm currently in law school, which I think was common knowledge here. I have a BA in Philosophy. Before finishing college, I worked in a tortilla factory. Before that I worked as a programmer in Malaysia.
