Mystery Science Theater and Bad Fanfiction

Post by Lago_AM3P »

Well, looks like this fandom is pretty much kaput. I remember back in 1996-2000 when people were popping out MSTs online like crazy. A lot of them were really funny, too.

It seems that in this day and age when anime and American TV shows have a new all-time popularity and fanfiction is bigger than ever that we need a new way to counter this evil, but the old purveyors of justice seem to be dead.

DOES THIS MARK A NEW ERA OF A WHOLE NEW GENERATION OF BAD FANFICTION NOT BEING MADE FUN OF?? STAY TUNED.

How active was the fandom in the first place? Aside from a few sites for individual authors, all I ever found was one archive, Website #9, which went offline like three or four years ago promising to be back up "soon".

Don't bother trying to impress gamers. They're too busy trying to impress you to care.

Well, it was more active than it was NOW. You might want to check out Shinji's Vault of Anime MiSTings/Megane 6.7's website/Everything What is Crap. Unfortunately, most of them have been lost to time and servers going offline permanently. You used to be able to count on regular updates and all.

I feel the urge coming on to do some MSTing. Anyone got any bad fanfiction they want made fun of/want to share?

Well, there's always FanFiction.Net, your source for unreadable Mary-Sue riddled crap since 1998.

I'd like to thank leress for the spoonyexperiment link. I think listening to the review of final fantasy 8 has allowed me to get over the trauma that game caused me and that now the healing can really begin.

Uhhh I write Celtic, Greek, and Norse mythology fanfic... <_<;;
Not that I'm brave enough to share it, quite yet.

But things like this and Star Trek (one of the original worst fanfic topics) are taboo for me. There's geek, and then there's G33K.
