A mash-up of Call Me Maybe and the Space Jam theme song. Much better than it sounds.

Been listening to a KPFA 94.1 FM Berkeley livestream for much of today, and it's pretty good.

Looks like http://www.zreomusic.com/ is closing down next month. Kind of a shame.

I kicked in to this kickstarter, and you should too.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

As an Indian, I am very much a fan of Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam music. I've recently rediscovered a singer called Shankar Mahadevan. WHile the language barrier might not really interest you much, I think you guys should watch this video just to see his crazy (at least to me) control of his breathing to sing this song.

SHankar Mahadevan - Breathless is one of my current favorite songs.

Nice! When I know the lyrics, I use songs like that for singing practice. Not just for breathing, either... It's great for vocal precision - hitting the notes exactly instead of sliding into the right note.

Our house is currently enamored with Lee Hyori's Bad Girls (Korean), and Sirusho's PreGomesh (Armenian). I think Hyori's video is hilarious, and I love the costumes in Sirusho's (It also has awesome dirt). Both are very pop.
My son makes me laugh. Maybe he'll make you laugh, too.

My musical tastes are pretty varied, I'd say. I've got tastes for American dubstep (Skrillex, Excision, Datsik, Krewella, Bassnectar, Nero, Modestep); rock or rock-ish music (Evanescence, AFI, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Dead by April, Breaking Benjamin, Hollywood Undead, TSO); Rap (limited, mostly Eminem, Lil Wayne, TI, and similar things that were on the radio 2-6 years ago); and some older country (almost exclusively through Pandora, think Johnny Cash and Hank Williams). When I'm in my car/room/anywhere with a speaker system that can handle bass I listen to UK-style dubstep (Skream, Benga, Caspa, etc.). I have a limited taste for pop music that includes some Brittney Spears, Lady Gaga, and a smattering of songs from other artists. Opera, musicals, and classical arias or choral music that extends to stuff that I've sang/performed/seen in concert almost exclusively.

And because I like ruining everyone's day, go listen to a band called Brokencyde.

EDIT: I figured I would add in a couple of my favorite songs for y'all to listen to if you wanted.

Been reading through a Let's Play for Suikoden 5, and some of the music is pretty good.

Suikoden V OST - Imprisonment ~ Agate Prison Theme
Suikoden V OST - Tactician

Some involves talented artists consciously shooting for awfulness. The end result is... interesting, and I hear it's even more so for listeners with actual musical training.

I love this, by the way. Thank you. Surprisingly, Ess totally dove into it, too. He sings these versions of the songs ALL the time. He even loaded the videos onto his Kindle Fire so he can make sure that they are always with us.

In the meantime, I've found the retro artist, Caro Emerald. Her voice is flawless. I'm rather surprised that I haven't heard of her before, and I'm even more surprised that I learned about her because her music was featured on Pretty Little Liars (Yes, I'm addicted to that show).

So, Ancient History, PostModern Jukebox's vintage remake of Macklemore's Thrift Shop has been remixed by DJs Bart & Baker into a modern remake of a vintage remake of a modern song!

We are reaching levels of meta-reality here that would make Jacques Derrida shit himself.

Been in a Mashup mood and I found a great mashup of the "Ocarina of Time" soundtrack and various samples from Dr. Dre/Jay Z/Clipse/so many others along with original lyrics by Team Teamwork (MF Doom and Pimp C).

You should also look at "Vinyl Fantasy 7" by them. Team Teamwork has all of their stuff on soundcloud, and they've got it aggregated on their own site.

Yuga's boss theme feels too cool for him. Never felt that intimidated by the guy, with the possible exception of the last fight.

Caro Emerald is fantastic. She's just not that big in the US, much to my annoyance. Add another band to the list of bands I like that mostly tour in Europe.

This cover of Sweet Child O'Mine from that you-tube channel is amazing.

And this is the song I've been playing on repeat for the last week. راشد الماجد ــ مامعاكم خبر زين

Yeah, I'm really starting to like the vintage music bit. Thanks, AH for getting me started.

I would totally listen to that song (isn't that Rashed al-Majid?) if it weren't for the static background. I like a lot of that kind of music. But, then, half my playlist is foreign - I like everything, even if I don't understand the words. :)
