Here's what I get, using the five books in my reach:
Ellen had just fallen asleep when she heard a strange voice.
So either I start hearing strange voices in bed or I become a stalker.

I'm actually not sure which option disturbs me more.
But they were losing steam.
Apparently I'm not very good in bed.
...the wretched Man-less woman.
Apparently one-night stands are in my future.
A young child is stolen by wild animals.
So I'm a furry pedophile gang rapist, or raped by a pack of wild animals. Great.
A young woman in town married a man from another part of the country.
I get married. Boring, but at least it's happy.

The nearest book to me is Artesia Afire, but it could be worse because it's sitting on top of the Monster Manual.

The relevant sentence is: 'Dread Queen!'

Yeah, that's about right.

"That doesn't alter the fact that we've been here for months without finding a trace of any group organized or powerful enough to mount an operation like that."
Disconcerting.

MM wouldn't be all that bad, it'd be the first half of the description of a marilith.

Small Gods.
They probably assumed he was being useful.
Sounds clandestine.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

--The horror of Mario

Head First C#, pg 45, line 1: "When you select "Build Solution" from the Build menu, the IDE compiles your program."

Bolding in original source. I'm pretty ok with the euphemisms here.

"Even Islam, which some students of Arab affairs cite as the most formidable single barrier to the westernization of Arab existence, is basically but an affirmation of Christianity and Judaism-- or, at least, of such versions thereof as Muhammed knew."

I'm not sure I want any part of this.

Peculiar properties of spacetime ensure that the perception of the magnitude of Soon is fluid and dependent, not on an individual's time-reference, but on spatial and cultural location. A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

Mine was from the Amulet Graphic novel and it is either "Bzak - zppt -zzzz" or "Look you're going to need my help, whether you ask for it or not."

I don't know which one is superior/horrifying.

The nearest thing by me is a paper that is only 43 pages long, so let's look at page 25.

Technically there is no sentence... so I go with the first non-header line.

Starting Skills: Common Lore (War), Dodge, Intimidate, Scholastic Lore (Tactica Imperialis), Secret Tongue (Military), Speak Language (Low Gothic)

Well the intimidating and secret tongue bit sound intriguing at least.

(the book is mine now because my 1 year old tore it and I bought a replacement for my friend who is running the campaign. don't judge meeeeeeee!)
