Delicious, delicious coffee. And tea.
I'm normally not a big coffee drinker anymore, I mostly only drink coffee to give me a jolt on nights where I didn't get enough sleep and then only if the drink has been made into a liquid candy bar (for the extra sugar), but this Starbucks rainforest blend is fucken delicious. So dark, so rich. It almost makes me want to buy a coffee grinder and get the beans myself, but I don't know if I drink coffee enough to make it a worthwhile purchase. I usually only have coffee every third or fourth day or so, mostly drinking water or orange juice in the morning.
I'd also like to declare that jasmine tea is awesome as hell. Mild flavor going down, beautiful flowery aftertaste. It puts a spring in my step. My mom is a huge tea fanatic, down to growing her own leaves, so I'll have to ask her (and TGD) for some more flavors. I'll also have to ask her for her recipe for sun-brewed raspberry tea. I'll also have to get a real honest-to-goodness teapot, too, since my current method of putting a teabag into a mug and pouring hot water into it is wasteful.
Also, George Orwell was totally right. Tea tastes a lot better without sugar in it. I can't believe up until a few months ago my primary method of tea drinking was Snapple and those cans of Lipton. All those wasted years... But I don't understand the practice of putting milk in it, either. Even a few droplets overpowers the taste as milk is just too creamy.
I still hate lemon tea, though.

A little sugar is good for bringing out the flavour of tea. When I brew a pot, I put a couple of teaspoons in.
Also, just this morning I put in an order for the following flavours of tea: Melbourne Breakfast, Chocolate, Ruby Red Rosehip, Black Rose and Pai Mu Tan. I can't wait.

I drink a LOT of tea. Pots of it. Daily. And it needs no elaboration.
One of my favorite teas is called Sweet Thai Delight. Most of the time, I drink it plain, but when I want something special, a cup of that with the tiniest hint of cream and coconut sugar is just to die for. It's like a liquid dessert.Lago wrote:Also, George Orwell was totally right. Tea tastes a lot better without sugar in it. I drink iced tea, made by the gallon and then stuck in the fridge with no ice, WITH sugar.
A little under two cups a sugar per gallon (you can use more, but I've been cutting back and shaking some of the sugar out of each cup before I put it in the container). Eight tea bags, 36 oz. of water, nuke in the microwave for five minutes. Then pour on top of sugar, and add the water, stirring while it fills up. Once it's chilled down in the fridge, and if proper attention has been paid to the steeping (i.e., leave in the microwave for forty or fifty minutes), it'll hit this mix of flavor and sweetness, and be cold enough it doesn't need ice.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Chocolate milk is dangerous, 'cause the only way to drink it is in huge quantities. Vast even. I usually binge on it with tortilla chips and salsa-mixed-with-fresh-habaneros.
Sweet tea (the kind you get in Mississippi) is delicious.
Hot teas are devoid of flavor, so it puzzles me how people can possibly talk about how good they taste. I mean literally no flavor.
Coffee, on the other hand, is black ambrosia. Give me a real French roast or breakfast blend any day of the week and ten or twelve times on Sunday.

Current pet peeves:
Misuse of "per se". It means "[in] itself", not "precisely". Learn English.
Malformed singular possessives. It's almost always supposed to be 's.

This is a fantastic Jasmine Green tea, probably my favorite that I've brewed myself. I also like their Imperial White tea a lot. I'm not actually a big coffee drinker, but I love good coffee and Hair Raiser is one of my favorites. I usually use it to make turkish coffee. Going from whole bean to turkish coffee takes a bit of time since I grind it by hand and the whole thing is sort of a meditative ritual.
Chocolate milk is good.
The other day, I indulged myself and had a Coke Float for the first time in a couple of years.
Get a tall, honest-to-goodness glass. Put in two spoonfuls of French Vanilla-flavor ice cream (three if you're really decadent). Pop open a can of Coke. Pour over the ice cream--but slowly. It will foam and you don't want to it run over the glass.
Eat the ice cream out of the glass with a spoon, and drink the foam and soda yourself.

I've recently had to cut caffeine from my diet, at least for now. Now, I mainly drank Coke and that's was my drug of choice. Problem was I developed an irregular heartbeat.
The part I found weird? Coke classic has less caffeine than Coke Zero but it would send my heart into fits. Coke Zero has slightly more caffeine but had much fewer of the side effects.
In any case, what teas, coffees and soft-drinks I consume have to be watched if they have caffeine. I may be able to drink it again in normal quantities again someday...

vietnamese Iced coffee. 'nuff said.
also my mom makes a damned good Indian coffee. The black stuff is made in a modified french press without the push down press. It is much stronger than even turkish coffee. This is simmered down a bit after adding it to boiled milk and adding sugar (if necesasry) and mixing. one cup of this shit and I'm up for 6-7 hours. Espressos last like two-three hours for me.

Coffee, dark and strong in taste, but I don't need the sludge some think dark coffee requires.
A nice black tea can also be used in an emergency.

I'm a fan of yin hao jasmine tea. I was also recently shown how to make a "purple haze": 5 parts sake, 1 part chambord; heat in a sake jar.

Never had Chambord, but I love unfiltered sake.CatharzGodfoot wrote:I'm a fan of yin hao jasmine tea. I was also recently shown how to make a "purple haze": 5 parts sake, 1 part chambord; heat in a sake jar.
In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.
I love iced coffee. Fuck milk and sugar, though.
Also, Frank's chocolate milk revelation is kind of hilarious for reasons I have difficulty articulating.
