Looking for more [Tome] material

Post by Utterfail »

I am getting ready to run a game, hopefully only using material from Frank and K's tome material, and material made to work with the Tome material. Unfortunately there's a few holes in the material that I want to try and patch up.

I already managed to find the tome armors that Mister Sinister completed at: http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49 ... highlight= (thanks)

What I'm looking for mostly is [Metamagic] tome feats (since there's a plethora of combat ones already, and the Tome PDF has one for every skill). And perhaps a Tome replacement for the Wizard/Sorcerer and the Cleric.

I found a few metamagic feats here and may simply write up feats myself for the magic schools that were left out.

So, does anyone have any suggestions for material from these here boards? I wish there was an index of sorts.

We wish we had a more reliable search function...

But, okay, there is a more White Mage class--a couple of them, actually (Look for White Mage and Curator)--which focus more on healing/protection than the Cleric who, as has been pointed out by people more clever than I, can totally be played as Samuel L. Jackson in full armor and using a metal stick with spikes on it.

Wizard/Sorceror is tougher, since one of the reasons the Tomes look like they do is because it'd be a hell of a lot of work to rewrite those (and redo the cleric, honestly), If you did those, you'd have to rewrite the whole spellcasting system, and hundreds of spells, and then alter monsters... (they get casting, too!)...

Metamagic feats are also tough, because they scale on their own, mostly.

Edit: No, wait, someone under the name Iaimeki did a Sorceror re-write. It's in this thread: http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=48557

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I have a Paladin up a few pages back; it's something of a protection/healing Duskblade. I also have a Hunter (ranger replacement) and Alchemist (Flask Rogue/Caster hybrid) even further back that may not be fully up to quality.

Really, Wizards and Sorcerers don't need to be buffed, like the Tomes did for everything else. They might need to be rewritten to be made easier to play/have less traps, but that's it. I don't know exactly what the Cleric rewrite was going to be, but there was one in the pipe, I think for either playability or flavor reasons.

It seems like it would be workable to make a new metamagic feat for the schools that were left out of that link, and with a few more peppered in from the boards there would really be enough to support a fair amount of diversity in the casters. I was really simply hoping to avoid writing them myself.

And on the White Mage and Curator... I've been looking for about 30 minutes and cant locate either. I may just let Wizards, sorcerers, and clerics remain in as is. They never lacked power in the first place and if I can find sufficient [Tome] Metamagic feats for them they should feel "New".

Edit: Just saw your edit, I'll look at that sorceror.

I googled "tgdmb curator" without the quotes. 15 seconds
http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49091

Not sure about White Mage, I didn't see it anywhere obvious with the above method.

Hah, for some reason google omitted the curator on my search because the post was similar to other threads. Thanks.

Happy to be of assistance. I'm a Library and Information Science major, so I think I find at least some marginal benefit from getting practice finding things online like this.

I located one white mage with 6 levels of abilities here (scroll down a bit, it is in one of Judging Eagle's posts): http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49996& ... c&start=25

Later in that thread, someone links this: http://www.seiken.co.uk/momm/forum/inde ... topic=7850

You may want to consider this for a wizard replacement. This here makes a fine sorcerer replacement if you want it. I also wrote some [Metamagic] feats you can try to use, as well as this possible cleric replacement.

Hope those are of some help. Man, it's been too long since I wrote anything...

Hah, it appears traverse did all my homework for me over in the "[Tome] Community Material Link Repository" thread. I am a happy man.
