It looks fun-but-forgettable.
It's Hollywood crap, being "fun" makes it already a net gain.

The trailer looked fun, and hopefully will at least wash some of the Tolkien filth away from current fantasy gamers' zeitgeist.

Does that meta book use Ass World because their DM is Gygaxian? Because that would be the most AW thing ever.

Shouldn't "Klaatu Verada Necktie" be a weakness instead? Ash frees the Army of Darkness because the idiot can't be bothered to pay attention to critical information (and then releases the Deadites in the tv series because he got high and wanted to impress a one night stand). Also, I'd add ...

Re: How to Implement Save or Dies in a Balanced D&D System

"A balanced dnd system" is an oxymoron, just wanted to point that out. Also, the thing with rules is that what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and Rocket Launcher Tag mechanics got removed from game because Mister Cavern tended to kick and scream every time he got his RPeen NP...

Re: Video Games

when was the last time you actually heard or read anything about rogue traders? Over ten years ago, and I have no idea about the nature of GW's canned adventures. I did know, however, Paizo's canned SOIPs, hence me venturing the guess that I'm probably going to like a game based on Rogue Trader bet...

Chances are, the source material is going to be better (provided GW's writers don't share Paizo's unhealthy love for Second Order Idiot Plots, that is).

Perfectly valid animal behavior. Is your player the kind that reminds the teacher to give them homework too? Because I can't imagine the rest of the table sharing his opinion on how to better kill them.

Wow, a 5E book that says "here's a bundle of new toys" and not "this is all the stuff we're nerfing"... what kind of class traitors are the authors that don't treat players as the enemy? Tyho Brahe (Tycho, not Holkins) would be most disappointed.

All of your questions are solved by looking at the writer's face... he's clearly into Bad Old Days shit, so all your complains about the system are "features, not bugs."

Provided they don't have the insane idea of pricing it as a AAA release as they did with 12, I'd actually be willing to give it a shot, if only to be contrarian, I'd just have to repeat myself time and time again "this game wasn't intended to be related to CT."

Is there any real advantage to having a big list of weapons that are going to get seldom if ever used? Dopamine, mostly. It's like twitter or gaccha for trad gamers. Personally I preferred to go KISS with my fantasy heartbreaker and give the same basic stats to all weapons in the "main three&q...

Re: Best Edition of Shadowrun?

I'll say 4E on virtue of: 1) Classless/point buy. 2) They tried to step away from the otherwise Zeerust/Raygun Gothic trappings of previous editions. 3) It was the last bit of cyberpunk I played before the genre itself became redundant in the hellscape we live in. 4) It's the only SR I've played. (G...

I'd only vote Monte's crap if it was done as a drunk review and I can't say I care for White Wolf's pretentious "I'm doing a genre I don't understand and probably hate!" Snydering crap.

This goes beyond just saying "expy this" and "expy that." Superheroes are modern world's mythology, and you can't talk mythology without talking about Archetypes Theory. Every god can be tracked down to a base archetype, and so does every superhero.

Re: Shadow of the Demon Lord

SotDL is basically the game you give your edgelord DM who won't shut up about low magic misery tourism games. It was written by The Usual Suspects and I actually approve of it, since it gives all edgelords and draconian DMs a go-to game to be themselves and leave the rest of regular D&D alone. I...
