I'm not sure how your games look like exactly, but I usually deal with Bloodseeker as I do with Phantom Assassin - avoid solo engagements, bring a stun and lot of burst damage and he should die. General rules for sticking wards in the enemy jungle and bringing TP scrolls to every fight apply. If Blo...

If you do take supplements: Possible but not that likely. If you don't: Pretty hard. Vitamins E, D, K, and A are fat-soluble and can accumulate in the body when consumed in excess (usually with supplements), whereas an excess of every other vitamin would be excreted via urine. Vitamin overdose from ...

I just checked the package insert online and it says sleeplessness is a common side effect, possibly avoidable if you don't take your daily dose in the evening. Increased heart rate is less common, but also mentioned. I think it's actually rather likely that you would notice this when you're excited...

Being a "poor candidate" for surgery usually means that the risk of complications is higher than the possible benefits justify. Since a normal axial hernia (which I assume is what you have) is managable without the surgery, the bar isn't very high - still, if nobody gave you a reason, it's...

That is true if you approach it from a diagnostic perspective, but I don't see how that perspective is implicit in my statement. If I made a list of cancers, a number of them would have what boils down to "no clinical signs before it's too late" as their symptoms. If I showed you a perfect...

I was going to post a laundry list of literally everything I could think of relating to "chest pressure" (I think I got to 20 in 2 minutes, not counting various kinds of cancer seperately), but Frank beat me to it. Just adding that if it's persisting for a month, you should get it looked a...

Also, the "duplicate of her own brain" bit allows her to do insane calculation by means of putting a committee inside her head and get in 40 hours of studying every night. Telekinesis is insanely lethal. It should only take a few ounces of force to give someone a fatal aneurism. Weak tele...

I think elven economy would really run best on a "rare goods" basis. Conveniently, that could also explain why elves still live in forests when the rest of your setting has actual cities without making the elves look like idiots. But let's see if I can think of other reasons. So perhaps th...

I wasn't aware people played Skyrim as anything different than "Mod Managing Tycoon 2010". Moddability is probably the only real selling point of ES games since Oblivion.

@Aharon: I've fallen behind on my reading and I don't think they have a primer for new readers, but www.nachdenkseiten.de is a good, up to date source for economic news outside the (german) mainstream media. This is about Spain. I started delving into non-conservative economics with Wahnsinn mit Met...

@Kaelik: Thanks, now I get it. That does seem pretty useful, and yes, DotA2 doesn't have it. The interface is purposefully built to be almost exactly like in WC3 because that's where a lot of the players (me included) came from, but I can see how it's inferior. If I recall correctly, techies were a ...

Given that we are talking about allergies: I have a scratchy throat since a few weeks. The intermittent shortness of breath in cold weather I've had s...

@Kaelik: There should be an option to always show hitpoint bars - at least there is one in my installation. I think there's an auto-attack option too, but even in DotA1 it was consensus that turning it on messes with your last-hitting.

I'm pretty certain the jury is still out on that. It certainly isn't as simple as spreading a vague air of unease about sugar substitutes, so let me speak for the opposition: First, the alternative hypothesis for the association between artificial sweetener and diabetics is dead simple: Diabetics do...

Oral vitamin A derivatives that are effective against acne are prescription medication because high doses of those will do really ugly things to embryos and can have other significant side effects like eye inflammation, dermatitis, and rarely perhaps even psychosis and suicide. Standard issue Vitami...

The valsalva maneuver , where you breathe in, breath out against a closed glottis (so that no air actually escapes, but the intrathoracic pressure is raised) is actually standard procedure in boring academic medicine, so I doubt this trick would provoke much hate from doctors. We used the maneuver i...

@Prak: I had decent success with benzoyl peroxide gel for my facial acne. @fectin: I think that characterizes my position fairly - we've probably been trying to talk about different sublevels of the same thing and I don't think there's an actual disagreement (besides an appaling lack of precise terminology on my part) between us. I was going to say something to that effect, but Frank put it much more succinctly, so I'll just add stuff: - For the same reason (adult brain cells do not form entirely new connections and with a few exceptions do not regenerate), it's not possible to transplant central nervous system cells - which...

Just blazed through an epic length game with Warlock. Did I mention how cool it feels to kill someone with Shadow Word? Nobody sees it coming.

Also fantastic how you can win a teamfight with golems even though you're dead. :D
