Id say, yeah 5e is unsalvagable because it's built on quicksand. It really easier to just start all over and maybe grab some decorations before the thing collapses in on itself. Like I played in a 5e game for 5 months where all of us acknowledged the GM as a cool dude, and nobody there was a real ru...

Yeah, something like that. Anyways now THIS is downright inexcusable. This is not Good idea but we fucked up alley. This is Paizo wants to make deathcamps for non-magical characters but cant legally avenue: In addition to the 3 actions on your turn, you also get 1 reaction to use anytime before the ...

Hence, the "legendary" fighter doesn't even have a +5 bonus over the wizard. He has a +3 bonus. He would have a +5 bonus if the wizard was using a weapon without any proficiency - but in every edition of D&D, the wizard has always been proficient with some weapon. And with his spell e...

In theory, if done differently the whole proficiency bonus and such really could be a good way to go about this. I mean the way they are doing it, their not, but what did anybody expect? I'm seeing lots of inklings of good ideas undercut by faulty execution and not thinking things through enough. Bu...

In theory a unified Maths system seems alright (Target number should essentially always be directly level based as opposed to Saves, Skills, and Attacks all following their own scale ratio), of course, they are going at this completly backwards. If having a +10 Attack bonus over the wizard didn't ma...

Now, this just makes me laugh. I follow the 40K Lore for fun, and this is just such a flat out marketing ploy.

Voss wrote:@banshee. A lot of the excitement comes from the fact that it isn't as bad as 7th. While it has some stupid shit, there is a chance to play a functional game without being absolutely shit on by the crazy garbage they packed into the last edition.
But it still sounds like crazy garbage.

As a Non 40K player are the rules actually good? It seems like by an objective measure they seem like a nightmare.

Why is everybody in my local place excited for this?

Man its wierd. I just leveled up to 7 in our campaign, and it's so hollow. Playing a cleric even and I don't know what to advance because the 4rth level cleric spells are a dull lull point. Nothing exciting or really world changing. I can give every edition allot of shit, but 5e made leveling up at ...

The weird ass mastery levels that were just like bonuses but more work thing they were promising when this thread started actually did come out eventually. It was Numenera. Whatever DnD engine they were promising at the time was complet...

I skimmed through the Numenera book. I liked how holding on to too many magic items gave them a chance to explode or malfunction or something. That seemed like an okay, flavorful incentive to use and not hoard one-shot items. Is that in the Torment game? I find it stupid and nonsensical. Because th...

Numenera more of an aesthetic than a Setting. It's something You make really neat art for but not really do anything in.

When everything is a random magic item maybe, that can do whatever, whenever the end result is a lack of consistency and kinda dull.

I might have mistitled myself. I meant like minor in the sense of pointless.

PT is Prequel Trilogy, TFA is The Force Awakens, and NT is New Trilogy.

Spelljammer has its own problems but I have been having fun after fixing stuff like decoupling the wizard, and going more in depth with some rules.

I don't get this. I like fantasy in space, but all these rules changes seem so redundant and just a tango of staying in place. Also I thought the PT was the D&D 4e of the franchise. Utterly shit but I can see good idea somewhere, and at least good intentions. TFA and the NT is D&D 5e. A path...

Also I enjoy the little fuckups:

By critical hits only doubling the DICE you roll and not your damage, it removed crit building as a viable choice for non-spellcasters, whilst making critical hits matter more ONLY for spellcasters.
