Hey Mistborn, stop trying to have a discussion with that Premier guy, he's a fanboy who's terrified of any kind of reasoned criticism. If your dog tries to shit on your shoes, you don't engage it in a debate on the ethical ramifications of defecating on footware. You just rub its nose in it and hit...

So if you play a mundane hero, you need to cheat like hell. And have actual abilities that do that. That carrires with it huge probles of it's own. Cheating like hell either puts a lot of stress on the player and GM ("We didn't give your class any high level so I hope you like magical tea"...

Ok let's go into a little more about the system One of the first things any RPG needs is stats. So this is what I've got Agility(AGI) this is one everyone should be familiar with tells you how fast you can move how quick your reflexes are, adds to initiative, and potentially a lot of other things. T...

In fact, terrible games often have more entertaining stories, see the always popular raging at grognard threads. +1 to this I'm sure people enjoyed Apparently Expeditious Retreat, Swift is broken far more than I enjoyed the events that inspired it. Ya know I wonder if it's possible to create a game...

Re: So yeah this thing again. (Mundane vs Magic)

D&D is a game of fantasy, however some classes are by their nature supposed mundane. It's clear that the sorts of things people will accept the Fighter or Rogue doing are sharply limited. Yet at third level a rogue gains evasion which is an ex ability which clearly breaks the laws of physics (w...

So yeah this thing again. (Mundane vs Magic)

So this is the post that got my last thread locked in theRPGsite Well this is it. LM's big summation of balance, fighters, wizards, 24 ton rock monsters, magic items, and everything since if we go further with the Pit Fiend OHT is going to lock the thread. D&D is a game of fantasy, however some ...

Right now being the hopeless weeaboo that I am I'm working on my other project Nanoha the RPG 1st. Check the It's my own Invention forum for more.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the RPG 1st.

Sup, Lord Mistborn here you may remember me from Apparently Expeditious Retreat, Swift is Broken. Or from my 397 post count arguing with Grognards on theRPGsite. Well now I'm here to write a RPG about Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. This raises a lot of questions 1)Why exactly would anyone want to play...

0///0 gosh I didn't expect this much positive feedback.

Since I have no game this week I'm thinking of finally starting some real design work on one of my pet projects. It'll give me somthing to do other than argue with grognards on therpgsite.

So on to session two. Last we left our intrepid heroes the DM has realized 1st level characters are made of tissue-paper and failure. The Druid we captured points us the way to the cave where the orc cheiftan is doing some kind of shamanic ritual with his spirit (another Druid). We fight small bulsh...

The saddest thing thing about this campaign is that my character will end up being the most useful PC despite the worst stats. The Paladin Did not Get the Memo about TWF being bad, so me and the cleric do the same damage off a charge Also at level 1 Duskblade Casting is surprisingly good. They get C...

I groan inwardly as these hands of mine will never roll good stats, so as a pray unlimited lame works my stats are Str 14 Dex 12 Con 13 Int 13 Wis 8 Cha 7 (equivalent 20 point buy) AC 14 HP 9 Human Duskblade 1 feats Power Attack, Improved Initiative spells Co...

this is wrong the SM line has a casting time of 1 round so the monster dosen't show up untill the begining of your next turn

Since when is 1 feat slot inferior to 1 spell slot. A spell slot gives wizards almost as much benefit as a feat slot. Spellcasters also get feats. So really leadership is significantly more expensive than the summon monster lines. Summon Monster eats actions in combat and gives you things weaker th...

Your premise is fucked by Summon Monster 1. A first level wizard can summon CR 1/2 monsters and become EL 2 by the completely fucked CR rules. Druids can have wolf animal companions from level 1, which similarly ups their CR, in addition to being able to cast Summon Nature's Ally. If anything, Lead...

Apparently Expiditious Retreat, Swift Is Broken

It's time for this thread again an optimizer tells horror stories of his group hating him for knowing the rules and having a character that didn't fail at life. Name have been withheld to protect the guilty My previous gaming group had just broken up due to people moving away. One of the reaming mem...
