Upright eagles with humanoid arms and wings moved to their backs.

I love that they removed the Flight invocation from Warlocks and harped in 4th edition that flight was a high level ability that was handed out too soon in 3rd, then in the very first expansion for 5th gave us a race with a flight speed from level one.

So 5E is here and all and we know its going to be here for at least a little while. My question right now is whether or not anyone has any idea what they 'could' possibly do wit expansion material for this game? 5E is pretty empty under the hood so what could the writers possibly add to the game wi...

Continuing to examine an optimized 5E Necromancer I’ve found a few more interesting things. In the thread about the 5E Pit Fiend Gnomeworks said this: I would be curious to see if it is possible to build something that could solo this thing at a stupidly low level, comparatively. Maybe the level 6 ...

Jacks are basically "As much Glaive or Nano as you want to be, a level or two after the Glaive or Nano does the thing." I've only been through the rules once, and it was a while ago, but I don't recall seeing anything that Glaives or Nanos can do that Jacks can't eventually also do. There'...

You can take the Sentinel feat to acquire AoO when a hostile enters your threatened range. It also interrupt s movement if you succeed on your attack. Polearm Master allows you to provoke an AoO when a creature enters your threatened range while wielding a Halberd, Glaive, or Quarterstaff, which mak...

I'm not dead set on the roleplay except I want to say "check your privilige" whenever I can. I did a quick skim of the 5e rulebook, and everything seems kind of padded sumo. Is my best action really just to hire a dozen level 1 archers to kill the level 20 dragon? Edit: equality by force....

I really like the idea of anybody who cares to learn it being able to rock out Ritual magic (like in Steven Brust's Vlad Taltos series). Also like the alchemy in the Witcher stories/games. Seems like making those things available to mundanes would be very useful. Fighter wouldn't be so bad if he cou...

Asymmetric Threat is like many other Frank projects -- it's got an incredibly ambitious design proposal which demands pioneering multiple never-before-seen types of mechanics. It basically can't crib anything from anywhere else in the industry and would really require a dedicated team to put togeth...

That's actually an interesting idea, Hogarth, because then you could sort of help out the mundanes by giving them more class points for buying gear-powers.

I do like the way 5e treated Mystic Adepts; the costs need tweaking a bit, but they're actually functional as characters in 5th.

Of course, without tweaking the costs, they're the "I win at Everything" button, but I'm sure there's a happy medium to be found.

Can't clerics get Eldritch blast on their list? Eh, if not I'm sure they've got another good candidate. In other news, Trapdoot Technologies finally got their Kickstarter launched. They want -half a million dollars- (well, 435k), and are in fact refactoring their product to support (you guessed it!)...

yeah Potent Spellcasting to add +Wis to all your cantrips is actually pretty slick if you're interested in having any blasting at all. Poach Eldritch Blast or one of the other multiple die roll cantrips and you're adding +15 damage per round.

I think you're more likely to see them explain the process by which they "find new magical tools" i.e. go to support a different ruleset. (where the magical tools referenced in their blog post is synonymous with the license/rules for 5e) How hilarious would it be if Pathfinder said 'yeah, ...

The Passive results always being in effect is a hell of a house rule. It completely changes the way the skill system works if they had actually intended that be the case. Every skill check ever would be Roll, then take 10 - compare both results to DC, choose the one you want.

The TGD comes up with a list of hard-hitting questions and we have people from this board each ask him one. It's an interesting idea, but I don't believe for a minute that the questions won't be screened. Ostensibly to very reasonably keep out questions about dickbutt, but also just happening to fi...
