Re: 4e failed design goals
How much have you actually played the game? We had a heroic tier game going for a year. If you want a game that has longer combat than 3e, where mini's and mini movement are much more important 4e is the game you want to play. Honestly, this was one of our problems. Combat took forever to resolve, ...

4e failed design goals
Is it just me, or did the 4e designers not deliver on a lot of what they said they were going to do? Give everyone something interesting to do every round? Sure, spam at-wills. Eliminate magic item dependency? Nope, you still need neck, weapon, and armor, plus the fact that many optimized builds (su...

I am thoroughly surprised at this. To be honest, if I had cut my teeth on 4e, I wouldn't want to switch back to the overcomplicated mess that is 3e. We started with 3.5, then a few years later 4e came out. We tried it for a year, then we realized: we can't do half the crap we could in 3e, and comba...

Personally I'd go with a golem rather than a skeleton, for the Diablo reference, but I don't see the problem with the necro/archer described. It'd work in 3e too (though you'd want to use the druid as a chassis because rangers suck). Thing is though, most necromancers aren't marked by being shoehor...

I'd just like to point out that my PC is so cool! He's a necromancer! Sure his skeleton has the same stats as a bear, but it's not a bear! It's an undead! The use of bows is a COMPLETE COINCIDENCE. This isn't a ranger, it's a necromancer! You can tell, because I erased 'ranger' from the sheet and pu...
