If knives are generally more dangerous than Pokemon, that means that serious bad guys will FIGHT with knives instead of Pokemon primarily. It also means that Pokemon might start using weapons instead of their innate powers.

Preliminary research suggests that yes, you can use grappling feats with Tactical Tractor Beams. It's a really interesting and powerful combat option, especially when you exploit falling damage on top of that. Unfortunately, I saw a troubling clause when I was leveling up my Reaction Jackson inspire...

That artificer does sound like it might be genuinely fun to play. I've been running a wizard in a low-level 5E game, and with a fairly liberal DM you can do some really nice things with cantrips. It sounds like an artificer would be a great addition to the party, they'd do stuff I can't accomplish. ...

If pokemon attack ranges are universally low in this system, it sounds like the Onix that just rolls boulders down slopes at people is pretty bad news if you can't fly or teleport. Most pokemon worlds won't have the 5E problem of massed crossbows shredding 90% of monsters in the game, but I expect t...

On the Fake Jedi end of things, I was reprogramming an A Series assassin droid for Tactical Tractor Beam specialization when I realized something interesting. If that’s a ranged grapple, could you apply Crush and Pin feats? That basically turns it into a “force choke” you can use at Heavy Weapon ran...

One thing I do like about PTU is that they let you play a human that is personally hardcore instead of being a combat cheerleader. It would be pretty cool if a Pokémon adventure RPG could expand on that. If I imagine a mid tier Pokémon anime/manga team who save the world, I think of the following: -...

Yeah, sorry, I’m more interested in playing in the Detective Pikachu world than the straight videogames. Trying to catch Mewtwo is what the bad guys do. And it feels really lame if wide swathes of the cool Pokémon flavor abilities get negated just because we want the game to resemble videogame comba...

Are there Legendary Auras that give us functional rules for the following: 1. This thing is a creator god that can spawn thousands of minions (Arceus). 2. Time traveling away when the situation looks bad, then eating the enemy's parents in the past (Dialga). 3. Teleporting a 1000' radius centered on...

Originally, I was just thinking about a big ink cloud, but currents could disperse it semi quickly. I want to keep an army of submarines and tiny men from rushing in and swarming my team to death. Dumping a bunch of nuclear waste might do something. My team is immune to radiation, and it might scare...

I’m playing in a Star Wars game. I’m assassinating the dictator of Fishman Planet, in his underwater palace. What is the best way to pollute his waters so badly that it keeps the response time from the military slow? I have a big space yaht with a really good cloaking device, a full robotics / tech ...

That's pretty cool. Maybe I should pitch this for the next time my group that likes high-mechanics RPGS with an emphasis on combat is looking for something new. If there's support for some of the crazy unbalanced stuff you see in the anime, it might be fun seeing how it performs in different settings.

It will be interesting seeing what a Trainer Class can get away with in this. If you can warp reality like Sabrina in the anime by picking psychic, that's pretty hardcore.

You can have lots of arms, but it doesn't usually translate to extra attacks. Integrating a bunch of high-damage low-ammo weapons into a robot or armor CAN be really good for "two weapon fighting" with field artillery though. The vehicle and fleet battle combat feels a little clunky, but i...

That's handy to know about. It's still a dip in a +0 BAB class, and a feat tax that is only moderately useful, but it certainly has more to offer this character than Noble. I spent a long, long time trying to make a Melee Duelist who can Improved Rapid Strike Cleave through a hundred mooks in one ro...

Thank you, this is extremely helpful. I wonder, is dipping into Melee Duelist for DEX to attack and damage worthwhile (Via Master of Elegance https://swse.fandom.com/wiki/Melee_Duelist_Talent_Tree )? It seems like +7 dexterity would be more valuable to me for defenses and skills, but I'm not sure if...

Re: There is no point to having a Pokemon TTRPG

As paradoxical as it sounds, Pokemon fans aren't particularly interested in the Pokemon setting. It's not like Transformers or Star Wars where people go into the minutiae of the setting and seem interested in exploring every last corner of it. People just plain like to not think about the property ...

I am building a 12th level droid character using a Human Replica chassis. My team kidnapped a Sith Lord's apprentice, and I think I could use a tissue sample to make a copy in their likeness. I figure that an internal Tactical Tractor Beam and shield generator (faking having force powers) plus a str...

I am playing in a Saga Edition game right now, and my mad scientist wants to make a Human Replica Droid to assassinate a sith lord.

Does anybody have advice for where I'd want to focus making a Punch Droid at level 12 with a Human Replica chassis?

I am playing in a Saga game right now, but I mostly just copied Dean's Reaction Jackson build. I fly around with a jetpack and shoot mini-missiles at things, often as free counterattacks on other people's turns. I did have some success using a tractor beam built into my Iron Man suit to create or re...

I got to the first boss spamming my infinite air-dash, but the game was clunky and didn't do a great job teaching mechanics. A shame, it looks like this game is not well optimized for keyboards. You can do some really cool stuff, but you'll want a controller to play effectively.

My favorite Binder-adjacent class in Pathfinder was probably the Shaman, especially when the Spirit Binder Oracle archetype stole its cool stuff. You're a divine spontaneous caster, and you basically pick a set of extra spells known and a few non-spell powers every day. There's some work up front, b...

Everyone I know uses Mythweavers or PCGen for character sheets. We might have printed them out a few years ago, but it seems kinda wasteful when modern character sheets can do stuff like calculate changes in derived stats much faster than a human. I'm sure some groups still use paper sheets, it can ...

Thanks for the insights! It sounds like I ought to look at this as a competitor to Arcadia Quest and Darkest Night, then. I've been looking for a decent boardgame for the group, and lower-commitment rules would be good for the ones who aren't entertained learning complex systems.
