"What I am is not this meat. If a Horror takes me, kill the wretched creature that remains. I will have already perished, and another walks with my feet. So too with this. I can honor the troll that was, but not the monster he has become." While Markis considers this discussion very import...

"Mm. A troll that consorts with Horror-spawn is no troll at all." Markis will be happy to use the Wound Closure Salve he's carrying to cure Gram's head wound before the other villagers move him. After a moment of pained hesitation, he takes the blanket out of Buttercup's saddlebag. He turn...

The group's decisions during character creation may lead to more or less harmonious bidding. Having multiple characters stacking the same stat (I'm looking at you, Strength) or skill will naturally give rise to more situations where two players really really want the same card. In that sense it does...

Markis spares a glare for the branch that so foolishly threw itself between him and his enemy, then turns to his teammates. "Mmm. I've had worse picking blackberries. Let's make sure the villagers are safe." He puts his words into action by going to the tied up villagers and looking them o...

The cadaver's claws leave a trail of pain down Markis's arm, but this only emboldens him to strike back harder! He smashes at it wildly with his spiked mace.

OOC: Aggressively attack Cadaver A.

It might be setting specific. FR and Eberron both have trees according to some cursory Googling, but there's no reason it couldn't be magically or alchemically treated wood.

The time is ripe! Markis will enter an aggressive stance, swinging his spiked mace with pounding, powerful blows. He intends to remain within the Life Circle(s) and attack a cadaverman he can reach, which probably means Cadaver A. OOC: Sure am looking forward to two raging cadavermen. Here's hoping ...

Markis intends to double move towards Horus's Life Circle. He will be in a defensive stance, and will ideally end up on EE7.

(I'm hoping that Saoirse will drop Air Armor on the party before we move in. One added thread drops Air Armor on the entire party except the animal companion, who can't benefit unless they're wearing adorable kitty clothes. Then we go, and a Life Circle or three hopefully makes it so we can handle t...

In 3e it takes a single CR 3 core monster to take out the Tarrasque itself. Which monster is that? My first thought was the shadow, but the tarrasque is immune to energy damage. There are several CR <= 3 creatures that are immune to the Tarrasque's attacks (mostly because they're either incorporeal...

Markis dismounts. Buttercup is a wonderful granlain but woefully untrained for combat. He pats her and whispers some quiet words in her ear before turning to the others. "If the villain has captured others than our friends, they may not have half an hour. I would rather go on the offense, with ...

Markis' hand tightens on the hilt of his mace. He stamps his feet and grinds his teeth. "Unacceptable. Unacceptable!" He eventually calms and glances at the body. "Unless there is lingering corruption that must be purged, leave it. Whoever, whatever caused this needs a swift death.&qu...

So the horses are gone, but not the harnesses. I assume the cart or sledge for the lumber is still there as well?

"Too many tracks for the lumberjacks alone. Mmmm. They left orderly but suddenly, and without struggle? Perhaps somebody came to them for help."

OOC: Consorting with an exile is a dishonorable action in and of itself. If I were a highland troll of any clan, I would not be able to even acknowledge Gurunk'Gall's existence without irreparably staining myself, and if I was of his former clan I would have to attack him on sight. Lowland trolls a...

I guess the more specific question is: can you houserule and patch 5e into a passable game (for certain kinds of stories, high-fantasy not included)? Is the chassis robust enough or is it rotten to the core? Possible? Maybe. But the effort required is going to be Herculean. I would say you're bette...

I'm not an expert in Star Wars lore, but I could easily see it going down like this: Palpatine wins enough power in the Senate to be declared Dictator for Life. He installs his own men in military command positions as soon as possible to reduce the possibility of a coup or rebellion. They are chosen...
