For my last RPG I use armor as DR+ablative only. Attacks are pretty easy to hit with unless the defender is dodging, and dodging is penalized in heavier armor.
So light armor can dodge better but get punished on hits more. Heavy armors cannot dodge as well but soak better.

Re: Alternative to Cure spells and Lay on Hands
Evocation had problems to fix. Healing is actually pretty reasonable and I almost never hear anyone complain that there's too much healing or too little in 3e and its offspring. You're taking one of the few things that isn't broken and trying to "fix" it. That XKCD comic is actually perfec...

Yikes. Thanks for the warning. I hadn't bought it yet, was still sitting with it in my cart, but am much less inclined to do so now. I prefer paper because I'm old now, and my computer is likewise old.

Re: Most Recent GURPS edition and Girl Genius
I was pleased that my dnd minis cost me essentially nothing since I was able to sell minis that I didn't want such as duplicates or Drizzt, and they covered my costs. I'd just bring them to dealers the first day of GenCon and unload em and they knew they could turn em around and still get a profit a...

30 is a good deal for one book, which holds everything you need to play! D&D 5e was like.. 50. No joke! TTRPGs as a whole are like one of the least expensive hobbies/games. $30 for the whole kit n kaboodle is a good deal in this industry and an outstanding deal compared to any other industries....

Re: Class Kits and Archetypes
That sounds right. The reason I never noticed weapon weights is because nobody cares. It's easy for something to slip under the radar. And that goes 100000x for weapon HP. I have no idea if HP are balanced because nobody ever sunders weapons. *turns to Jon* but I do know that one doesn't just mess w...

Re: D&D, multiple attacks, and an alternative
Barbarian Smash is using up a finite resource. Your comparison is not valid. Kaelik's criticism, well... one of them, was of giving something at will at the same time casters get it, with the implicit understanding that casters are not getting it at will . True, I am bad at game design, and I have n...

Re: Class Kits and Archetypes
Yes... because it is important to alter a totally game driven stat when correcting a reality driven one. :bored: I never noticed that weight before. 10 pounds is a bit ridiculous. I googled for weight of a two-handed sword and the range was 4-8.8 lbs, claymores being about 5.5 lbs. Now, I don't know...

Re: Credible Masquerades?
If the supers are in hiding all in the same spot (so just one shadow world that they are invested in maintaining, not one of an infinite possible ones) from a big bad that has enough mojo to enforce the masquerade then that can work. Though you want to make it so that when a mage doomed or about to ...

Re: Credible Masquerades?
But in that scenario you're basically hiding out away from other supernaturals like hedge mage Ted Kazinski rather than masquerading with courts of vampires and mages.

FWIW, I searched Wose and found a picture from the MERPS review on this very forum. http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/merp/images/5/5d/Drughu.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20121023124513 I have pictures that I like better from my MERPS book, but in a spirit of laziness it was easier to repost this image ...

I have found more insightful game design advice and contributions on this board than any other. For the most part I’ve learned all I’m probably gonna learn without serious rededication and I have coasted for years on the enjoyment of discussions with personalities I’ve come to know. Sadly a lot of t...

Maybe when they finish breaking the glass I can jump back in. It sounds like right now I could miss half a season and be like, ok, now onto a proper story. Like, I watched the first season of The Promised Neverland, and it was good and otherwise doesn't belong in this thread. By the end of the first...

So. Wandavision its fucking bad right? That was my take. After the first episode I was in disbelief that they didn't break the glass in like the first 10 minutes. I was like, seriously an entire episode of this? That's... brave? I hadn't mustered the drive to watch another episode and I'm appalled ...

Leaving Luke as a separate post because I really like that badass picture. Pirates are a good example of people using swords and pistols. Apparently some knights/cavalry in the 1600's dumped the lance for firearms. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakkapeliitta were cavalry who entered battle with two ...

I imagine even if McConnell’s turtle penis gets hard at the thought of impeaching trump and trump losing his grip on his base (each a big if), he still would want to make the process a big mess that distracts and obstructs Biden from getting anything else done. I doubt he feels a political incentive...
