I agree with you on prioritizing Culture over Background. I really like the way it leans players towards adding a little extra flavor to their character, and how you've melded it with races.

I've got some feedback Chapter 3: Small edit - under Minotaur's Powerful Build ability, it references "Half-Giant". I'm not a huge fan of Culture & Background being separate. I think the bonuses are going to get fiddly at that point. Languages (and the idea of talents in general) seem ...

Sigil, I love that. I'm with Erik on shifting "Base Classes" up a little bit.

I would 100% buy a Tome PDF if it looked like that.

Doesn't that describe everything you make? (tee hee)

Sigil, that PDF looks gorgeous. My only complaint is that the boxes around the text don't seem to be straight and it's a bit hard on the eyes.

Yeah definitely a western media thing. I'm not going to comment on anime because I'm not inundated by it. I'm not sure that's the killer gotcha you seem to think it is, though. Again, if you think this is just about visual language (and you think it equates with "blue hair introverts sometimes ...

If you're equating "in anime, some introverts are X" with "across most media, most women are X" then you're going to have a bad time.

I'm with DSM (and 50% with Prak) here. "Girls are light and boys and dark" is one of those uncomfortable tropes that needs to go, and I would be very surprised if that wasn't an unconscious thought in someone's mind when they were concepting the new nightfury. White / Black might have been...

You can build slivers for like... a hundred dollars? Not sure if you consider that budget or not. I'm pretty choosy, so I wouldn't spend for it, but I also don't like slivers.

At the risk of turning all the way off topic, I'm a big fan of Betrayal. It's a great game for introducing people to the hobby, and it requires very little attention.

Experience refining someone else’s game design, writing, or both into publishable form required.
Sounds like something to do with Unearthed Arcana?

I'm pretty sure the only reason Carnage Tyrant is still expensive is because a ton of casual players with deep wallets are excited by it. It reminds me of Glimpse the Unthinkable's price.

I think Deeproot has been underwhelming so far. The big card from this set is Hostage Taker it seems, which I feel dumb for not guessing ahead of time. Who would have thought that broad removal, a body, and an extra spell were good for 4 only mana? Also, despite seeing basically 0 play in the meta, ...

So I looked at prices, and Carnage Tyrant is almost $30 . There's no way that's going to be sustained, right? It's more than the planeswalkers in the set. I'm looking into budget decks for XLN standard. UB flying pirates seems like a good option, I think. The good black removal is expensive (in $$),...

Just got 2nd place at a prerelease with U/W skies. This was my first prerelease in person, which was a lot of fun. Conclusions: removal is still good, fliers are still good. Got a sweet Conquerer's Galleon as a promo card, but I didn't play it (Crew 4 is tough). I was sort of expecting a slow format...

Ackshually there are a few 5-power creatures that on the cheap end like Wooly Thoctar, but yeah, Mayael is about cheating mana. Gishath is a casual tribal lord and/or a casual card for when you want to play a giant dinosaur. Either way, it's designed for timmy, and the lack of synergy is fine. Pers...

I think Riverwinder will see play, if only because it's the only blue common with CMC>4. The next in line is Aven Reedstalker, a 3U flying for 2/3. You'd likely prefer a Shimmerscale Drake, Ominous Sphinx, or Angler Drake, but you're not guaranteed to get those. A big blue creature that dodges remov...
