The main strength of the show is the character personalities. The plots, especially early on, get very dumb, but the characters are very engaging and entertaining. Also pretty. That's probably where it lost me. I mean, Supernatural clearly should have been something I loved, but eh... the relations...

We're doing this again, apparently. Fuck everything.

I loved the free-market mail in Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller Chronicles: Payment on delivery, which makes the letter a trade good.

Ant-man & the Wasp. That shit is funny. And serious. But mostly funny. The lovely Hannah John-Kamen emotes the shit out of her tragic villain character. The car chases are absolutely hilarious and also nail-biting at the same time. And the pre-credits "second ending" scene is gut-punch...

Given that apparently most SR metaplot dangers are body snatchers (Insect Spirits, Shedim, CFD), I've wondered. What could you use as a big metaplot enemy that doesn't depend on body snatching? Property developers. They are still snatching people, but they're doing it to get them out of the way, an...

I'm a doctor and all of my patients will die some day. But every day I do what I can to make today not be that day. Existentialism perfectly answers Nihilism. We simply imagine Sisyphus to be happy. That's great to hear since many doctors consider it their work to make sure that day is the day thei...

Just saw Deadpool 2 with the wife. That shit is funny . I even did the "shaking like a retarded seal because the laughs won't come out" thing. The 10 or so other people in the cinema didn't seem to be enjoying themselves as much. Probably because the amount of background needed to catch al...

I wonder if they at least take the time to consider how stuff like "Yeth Hound Baying" or "Troglodyte Axe Body Spray" should stack. Haha, no, obviously I don't wonder if they are going to fix that. This is a company whose average quality of rules writing declined when Sean K. Rey...

I saw Infinity War and wow it sucked. I don't even care about most of the issues brought up here about the movie so much as I do about the godawful chickification of Gamora. She had her hands pretty firmly grasped on the idiot ball the entire time, and it was extremely frustrating to watch. Coming ...

So, my level 7 party just found a +1 Vorpal Scimitar in last night's canned adventure. First beatstick: "Eeehhh....don't wanna. I like two-handed weapons" - and he's right, switching to the new shiny would make him less effective. Ranger: "Eh, I like bows". He is still the best c...

It's not a *6 jump at level 19, it's a multiplier that increases gradually. Still stupid, especially since they pre-close the design space of "actually useful alchemical items past level 3".

Considering that they still think "+ ½ level to X" is a good class feature to indicate "class is good at X", I'm not hopeful.

The most important thing is to rewrite the harlot to better suit the demographics of the event. You're not realistically going to find any slovenly trulls at a high class ball, or any haughty courtesans at a cheap dive bar. No one wants to make a wenching roll and somehow end up with a completely i...

and then there's the distinction between 1d12 skill and 1d8+2 skill where they are even on a roll-off, even odds on a 7+, but have different odds on a 4+ (and a hypothetical 10+ or 12+ mark).

So, I just watched Bright , the somewhat hyped modern fantasy cop movie. It's pretty good, mostly. Not great, but good enough. However.... Will Smith's character is super unlikeable . Not just wrong, but downright unpleasant. And the attempts to lighten it with the actor's famous brand of "char...

Yeah it does seem like Mike is straight up admitting that he doesn't want to hire anyone who is going to make him look bad by making anything good. He just wants someone who is going to follow orders and polish his turds. Ugh. I don't think there's anyone left at Wizards who could give us something...

Look over Oracle Mysteries like Lunar or Whimsy, and realize that the Extra Revelation fest exists. For Archetypes, Spirit Guide gives you flexibility, Dual-cursed gives you delicious Misfortune. Whimsy looks like shit, what am I missing? Action economy: swift invisibility, move action teleport. Re...

I think it would be beneficial to generally have as big (and therefore few) units as possible. When the giants attack your left flank, you can engage them with your Dwarven Pike and your Elven Archers; each of those is a smaller unit than the giants, and therefore suffer in the roll-off. But if you ...

As a corrollary to that, the church-backed anti-vampire squad is really just a murder squad that rounds up gypsies, homeless, homosexuals, foreigners and other undesirables and see if they float or make them confess on video to being vampires or werewolves or whatever it is we're hunting.

Of fucking course the armor you're wearing and benefitting from should still have its drawbacks as well. Fucknugget. This isn't a bad ruling.

As someone who actually plays PF and has a copy of Ultimate Wilderness, I have to say that some of the criticism sounds like hyperbole.

But it isn't. Every single word is true. The book is really that bad.
