My employer is saying I can't get my W-2 until February 7th. Now, I had heard that they can't send it out later than January 31st, is that true or is that just legal folklore? And if it's true, who do I bitch to? Edit: to clarify, they said they aren't mailing them out until February 7th. If you do...

Current random musing (which is coincidentally about foul-tasting alcohol): I have no idea if this bag listed on Amazon is any good, but I really appreciate that they use a bottle of Jack Daniels to demonstrate its capacity (bottom photo): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0716PNSFD?psc=1&pf_rd_p=f91f8...

. Someone else has to be pondering the fact that IPAs are to dudes what the PSL is to chicks.... Uh, they're easy for niche brewers to make, okay (not great) and while you expect at least one in any sampler pack, you're getting sick of how they have become at least 5 out of any 12 such variety pack...

Ironically, at least idiot and moron were once also words that mean the R word and/or crazy in the relatively distant past, or at least close in meaning since our understanding of these concepts was worse. If you look through 19th century census reports, you can find official counts of the number o...

Looked at the last heartbreaker I was considering, years back now. I was starting with mechanics and class differentiation schemes and never even finished that. But the placeholder magic split I had was: Might - physical enhancement, healing, dancing weapons, blade barrier, etc Sleight - trickery, s...

Lago, please.

Olympic triathlons are middle distance affairs. You're thinking of at least a half-Ironman.

This is the thing that I just can't believe - WHY haven't "they" ripped off more of the samurai/western movies for SW? It's widely known that ANH was a rip-off of one, why hasn't anyone done it again for SW? It's so easy, there's tons of material, it's practically already written for them...

The overall problem with the franchise is that the 1977 film was a true cultural milestone. It shifted the entire film industry (production, marketing, release schedules, target demographics, etc), the popular perception of science fiction as a genre, how toys were marketed for my entire childhood a...

I liked all three of the new movies. Liked, not loved. I found The Last Jedi to be a fun ride while I was watching it in the theater, but with a whole bunch of "Wait, WTF, that makes no sense?" moments that became obvious within ten minutes of discussing the flick waiting for the bus home....

The flipside of that is that I never did credited work above playtests because in the late 90s and early aughts when I was gaming in circles with a lot of people being paid for work on Exalted and other more obscure RPGs. it was abundantly clear that I was earning a lot more than they were in my job...

Not sure it's a category, but I always thought that Producer / Director was a more useful description of the GM's role. Yeah, it's a person with more authority over the production, but also radically different responsibilities from the others involved.

Saw Jojo Rabbit at bargain Wednesday. It's a very good film and it's scary how timely its messages are.

But the use of Tom Waits' "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" as the song for the Hitler Youth Camp montage was downright superlative.

Question: Where does Robocop fit into all this? Sign me up with Honest Trailers on that. "The king of having his cake and eating it too." Robocop has a bunch of trappings of satire, but the climax is one guy in the boardroom realizing how to manipulate the corporate rules now hardcoded in...
