Re: What if Evocation didn't suck?
Eh, you could always cut out the middleman and just make damage itself mess you right the hell up. Penalties and fail chances and lost actions and all that jazz. Then people might actually care about things that deal hit point damage.

Re: Is it me, or is WoD's Mechanic stupid?
This is why difficulty 10 is and always has been bullshit. And why they introduced the ideas of botch-only-on-no-successes and nuts-to-difficulty-10-use-difficulty-9-and-a-threshold. Also, magic dice that deviate from statistical trends are always a bitch.

Re: Need some advice: Playing a 'Core' character in the WLD
Depending on how harsh low-level survival may be, you might consider Faerie Mysteries Initiate and Abrupt Jaunt if doing the wizard angle. Particularly if retraining is allowed for the former down the road. 9 hp and the ability to negate (full) attacks 5/day can be helpful in getting out of level 1 ...

Yup, the group seems pretty much double wrong there. Wizards choose to use SoDs and spells subject to SR because(/when) they work. If for some reason they didn't, they wouldn't choose to. They're wizards - they've got plenty of options (core and otherwise) for deploying their spell-borne resources u...
