It looks like someone attempted a George Perez-style layout without an understanding of basic composition. If you're doing a superhero RPG, pay for art by an actual superhero artist. Example: GOOD ART https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSdDUve57YIw9_rhGF-22GmSAvz22CPY2fvlMl_Vcj3kq1n...

a.) Agreed on Supreme Powers premise; I trust you are familiar with the earlier work it was based on, that did some similar stuff (though not to the same extent)? b.) Did The Twelve ever get finished? I collected the first 6(?) issues, but never saw the rest. Do you know if they put it out in a col...

Supreme Power was a fucking awesome deconstruction of DC's power house characters, despite the stupid name. The Twelve was also very cool as a hero-out-of-time tale. His Spider-Man run gets a bad rap for Norman Osborne's 'o-face' and the whole 'One More Day/Mephisto dealio but those were editorial ...

A friend of mine got a copy for free at GenCon and gave it to me. It's narrative and combat is way more abstracted than the d6 and d20 versions. It also uses career skill trees. Dice pools are used to determine ability, proficiency, difficulty, challenge, setback and Force successes. The book comes ...

Fading Suns pulls its tone from popular SF books where the focus is on collapsing stellar empires, like in Dune and The Hyperion Cantos. The closest comparison you can make is WH40K but it's less gothic, less bad heavy metal.

The Eclipse Phase RPG uses cornucopia machines. Restrictions are made based on the availability of raw materials, energy use, safety regulations and hypercorp DRM (if you're living in the Inner System).

Internet Explorer is a bag of hammered buttholes. If IE6 were a person it would have been euthanized in the name of decency. I'm not having to write so many "if then" statements in IE8 but it STILL can't handle a lot of common CSS design practices.

Is anyone here a manga or non-Anglophone comics reader? I'm trying to find new books to read but, other than Gantz , the American manga market seems like it's geared toward little girls, little boys, emo/goth kids, and yaoi fans. Books I've read and liked in the past: 1. Masamune Shirow's stuff (Gho...

No. People will always try to come up with fighting styles focused on nothing more than beating the 'best' techniques. And the unexpected is more dangerous than the 'best'. You're talking about fighting style of which there is no "best" technique (though the Wu-Tang Clan would disagree). ...

I'm curious as to what Adobe's next move will be since it was Jobs who pushed to remove Flash compatibility.

PS: I hate Flash but it's still a common tool in web development that doesn't seem to want to die. Er... I mean... go away.

I might argue diminishing returns though as there's only so fast and so good you can possibly get with a sword. I agree with this. Everyone plateaus in their skills and practice becomes a matter of maintenance rather than improvement. You can swing a sword for 10 years or 1000 years but eventually ...

The latest Gamma World utilizes elements of CCGs. The box set comes with a core deck and there are boosters for abilities and gear cards. But it may not be quite what you mean by CCG --> TTRPG.

You don't need two glossaries and you don't need to differentiate between mechanical and setting terminology. It all works together.

The alternative is a rules-only volume with a glossary and a setting volume with a glossary.

I would throw in "Rocking" as a mini-game though this would cover all forms of counter-culture music from scratching records to setting your guitar on fire. My suggestion would be to treat it as a variant on the opposed test. Players, as a band, decide how much heart they want to put into ...

Alas I have no children but I push every parent of a toddler I know to dress the wee one in Yoda garb, get a backpack carrier, and re-enact the Luke on Dagobah training sequence.

Or if you have an infant, make a belly harness, cover it in rubber and go as Kuato from Total Recall.

Green Lantern rings are provided to those who can control their fear; Batman is ruled by his and proj...
