Since you need to reload the crossbow they're still plain worse than bows. If you make the mod so that they can be fired onehanded that'd be okay, but that -4 penalty is pretty nasty. Level loss requires work and is not scary since it is reversable. Everyone who has posted on this thread can come up with a simpler and scarier system. Thats why level loss is bad.

Assumeing the DM has houseruled the truely broken stuff out is necessary for a decent discussion about changes or new stuff. A new 9th lvl spell isn't underpowered just because its less powewrful than 3.5 shapechange.

Here (Australia) robbing the cradle is used like Jack said. Except that you don't need to be old enough to be your date's parent, just enough of a difference for people to think its odd.

It dosen't really matter if NE is neutral or evil, it does matter when the rules can't seem to decide. Just pick one and stick with it.

What if you just made a new rogue special ability that allows the use of some spells from the assasin list a few times per day as spelllike abilities. Caster level equal to rogue level.
