@skills:
I'd say that UMD can stay useful pretty much forever.

For martial types, a weapon's actual damage die tends to obsolesce pretty quickly.

Also, he apparently enjoys the idea of playing PedoWorld. Seriously - WTF?! I mean, I think I see what they were going for with that playbook; but it's so wrong and deeply disturbing, I don't even know how to begin. I've spent way too much time now thinking about that and I'm in some combination of...

The fact that on a roll of 7-9 the GM can choose arbitrarily whether you actually succeed or fail straight up, is weird as fuck. I don't think that's the intent at all. I mean, granted in the stealth example they gave (which is among the worst), the partial success results in you being discovered (...

"slaughter a child" is not "success at a cost" on a "not be seen" check - and the fact that someone can think like that literally makes me nauseous. Seriously - infanticide as a "complication"? WTF is that even about? That's not even "hard bargain". ...

In addition to "don't prep plots", you're also not supposed to prep setting. So the Fuck-you-Invincible-Guards aren't pre-planted. MC preps a bunch of arbitrary Moves, which instead of a "wandering monster chart", he has what boils down to a "quantum lolcock list" that ...

The structure is: you succeed at a roll, and the MC introduces an unbeatable opponent in response. That is unforgivable The example doesnt state that the GM introduced the psychic bodyguards, just that the GM indicated to the player that they were the biggest threats. No silva, Frank is 110% correc...

No. None of those words mean anything to me. Brainer? Isle? I understood 'visit grief' but nobody fucking talks like that in real life and I have no clue what canned peaches or car sheds have to do with anything. What does it mean that a situation is charged? How does she find out that Plover has a...

It's all some kind of irrational circular reasoning that is meant to come back and "prove" that AW doesn't suck.
Except, it really does suck.

Just saw Winter Soldier last night, and loved it. I do, however, keep watching literally every scene with the shield and think "It absorbs vibrations, that shouldn't work that way" (like when Cap is stumbling back when Batroc kicks his shield) But then, I never took a physics course, so m...

As a practical matter, it's pretty asinine.
Either it won't be meaningfully enforced - making it completely pointless, or it will end up being harmful PR for any company who does this.
Either way, it's dumb.

I kind of like the idea of using Reflex mod.
UA's fractional saves solves the problem of people trying to munchkin saves/initiative, I think.

If rules for how people accept gifts is unneeded, then DM arbitration is a perfectly acceptable thing, but will need to be at least noted. I must admit that I'm a bit confused: are you suggesting that everything that needs DM arbitration needs to be noted as such? I'm not sure that you can murder e...

Not so much.
At best, you're left with a net-zero change; but with yet another number to throw in the mix.
At worst, it makes things way too wonky.

What is your intended goal?

I think, by and large, that describes the whole movie.

I mean, I still didn't like the movie all that much; but I do appreciate what they were going for.

AW railroads you in to a narrow range of characters, which further railroads certain types of intraparty interaction, all aimed a telling a very narrow and niche type of play experience. AW isn't good for anything other than Baker's very narrow vision.

Anymore, I'm happy enough if my players give me enough so as to explain (a) coherence of their character sheet, and (b) how their character makes sense as existing within the context of the game's setting. And even that is starting to be like pulling teeth. :tsk: There was a time when I didn't even ...

I figure combat actions can be broken down into 3 broad categories: -Single/Multi target attack/debuff -Enhancing/healing/defending an ally -Protecting yourself Summoning critters and walls of various materials are a 4th action but their purpose fits into one of those 3 broad categories. By default...
