Virgil: The Antimagic Hat works like that. You know, big, wooden ricehat-shaped object shrunk to fit on the head. When you get into an AMF, which is an emanation, it enlarges, leaving you outside the effect. Then teleport out. Don't blame me if that's old news.

In Finland, roleplayers are only considered "strange," but not in an insulting way. The are no real stereotypes, except within the gaming community. There's also a fairly large female presence, in comparison to what I've understood about the US RP scene.

His close personal ties with Loren Coleman really leads to wonder how many bucks he may have made himself from this little, unfortunate mistake that very accidentally led a single guy to happen to become in possession of the company's money.

[d20] Arcane Visionary

Crucial information: This class belongs to a game that allows the generic spellcaster which in itself is extremely powerful alternative for the sorcerer. The reason behind this is a solo game, in which the player requires to be able to survive difficult fights and long workdays without NPC support. ...

Seems pretty indicative of the DM mentality expected in 4th ed. Seems like a sketchy Gygax impersonation, except without the balls required to be a true asshole. I think the DM is just expected to use subterfuge to roll over the players when it's vital to the story and let them experience the illusi...

Sinister, I think you should just call it "magic photosynthesis," which is that missing gajillion times better than what plants do. Since orcs reproduce faster than rabbits (or so it's often written, it is to compensate their very short life spans,) feeding their growing and tumulous tribe...

I don't know wheter to cheer or to sigh mournfully. 4th e. has been what some might call a huge headache for D&D and its players. However, if what Frank's saying is true, the news is bad. It's been proven to suck twice a day and three on Sundays and its fans are mostly either retarded or overgro...

It's not even about what the dwarf needs on his journey, ie. the "I have rations for 10 days" is completely viable. But when you enter a dwarf town, everything you design about it has to come from somewhere. Usually? Bullshit you made up/picked up from Tolkien or some other dude who also b...

Judging Eagle: If you don't like the complexity of editing every monster, I suppose the best method is just to give arbitrary bonuses to knowledge skills when identifying monsters. Pull them out of your hat as appropriate. I think I'd do that. If my players didn't basically know every monster by hea...

Knowledge check to determine wheter your character knows a monster or not is totally a feasible mechanic. Currently, commoners won't know that they're being attacked by a dragon, even if one is exactly like in the tales every one of them heard as a kid. I propose a solution: give monsters a feature:...

Diplomacy and problem solving skills. Knowing what a dispute is about and the sorting it out efficiently. The DM has to enjoy the game and make the players feel the same. I personally think that MC2 is a fairly decent game to play, even though the chargen is at least a little peculiar, since stat rolling basically happens by following the Backround loop ad infinitum. I suppose that even more than in D&D3.x, the starting "level" is agreement-based. The v...

So, Mutant Chronicles.

2009 came and went and so COG Games' license to produce the third edition to the game got screwed. Hence, we're stuck with the second edition, which is quite simply a "1.5" edition, fixing a few bugs, slightly fucking up chargen (you can't die at character creation anymore! DAMMIT!) and in...

First of all, saying you have to accept RHD/LA leads to the question: WHAT race are we talking about? I'm fairly sure any player would happily play a Sharn or Sylph. If we cut out the possibility for casting RHD and/or LA, just slapping on extra empty levels on casters, well, it's doing just that - ...
