OgreBattle: Only kinda? The FFG Star Wars RPGs (and now their generic, settingless RPG, called Genesys) have a really *weird* dice system. No numbers. The dice are custom, with 3 kinds of positive symbols, and 3 corresponding negative symbols, which all cancel out, and you only care about the net re...

Count me in the group saying 'private servers or GTFO'. I love Fallout like air, and until we get private servers, FO76 is getting a hard pass. I know there is a fuckhueg market for multiplayer games right now, but I have *no* desire whatsoever to deal with other people while I immerse myself in my ...

In general, if you're shopping for parts online (which you should) START with Newegg. They have a great return policy and customer service. And reviews on Newegg have a much greater tendency to be from detail-oriented computer people, so you can get useful info from them. Once you pick your part, TH...

Forget laser eye surgery, go properly cyber: implantable contact lenses are a thing now. My wife got them after it was determined that she couldn't have laser surgery because her eyes were just *that bad* (there wasn't enough material to burn through to reshape things properly). Implantable lenses (...

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing is cheesy ARPG fun. Gets a *bit* repetitive after a while. Grab the Final Cut version off GOG to get the whole trilogy as one game, instead of needing to do a bunch of save-importing shenanigans. That said, I'd appreciate that copy of Poly Bridge. Streamer I ...

Yeah, at this point it's pretty hard to take seriously any game that has a Unity splashscreen. On the other hand, I basically have given up on buying games day one, so I'm always reading reviews/watching gameplay before I buy anyway. I don't want to get surprised after I spend my (very little) money...

See, you're talking about multiplayer, which...fair enough, I guess. But multiplayer RTS and I don't get along. At all. Singleplayer story campaigns are where it's at. And for DoW 2, at least, that was what they were pushing, too, which made me quite happy. If the multiplayer of DoW 2 and CoH were b...

I'll eat my crow on that one. It's been a long damn time since CoH1 and DoW1 came out. That said...Company of Heroes is a direct reskin of Dawn of War 1. DoW2 is not that similar. Dead serious. Still don't understand what you're going on about. CoH and DoW were about building your base, to build and...

Are you high? Dawn of War 1 was a Company of Heroes reskin. Directly. Dawn of War 2 was a weird small unit tactical RPG thing (which was fun, don't get me wrong, but it was a very different direction). Dawn of War 3 seems to be trying (and failing) to have some of both. That said, what happened that...

Solar power towers are already a thing, that works, and produces pretty decently cheap power. I'd have to do way more research to tell you if they're more efficient than photovoltaics, but they are definitely a practical, functional power source.

The Last Jedi straight up cannot manage time in a way that makes sense. How long was Rey on Ahch-To? How long was she badgering Luke for training? Who knows? How long was the trip to Canto Bight? Sure seems to have not been the same length as the return trip. How long were Finn and Rose planetside ...

Just got back from finally seeing TLJ... I don't think I've been this disappointed in a Star Wars movie since Phantom Menace. This movie was *awful*, both as a Star Wars movie and just as a film. Point by point on the plot: The opening sequence was bad. While the whole phone call thing was a decentl...
