I always liked that intro fiction better than some of the other M:tA books from back in the day.

So, uh, legit unrelated question about trans people. Is it transphobic to ask what organs people have before sleeping with them, or is there something I'm missing from the earlier exchange? I'm going to agree with Voss in the sense that how you frame it, tone, will matter a lot. Are you interesting...

Lack of play testing isn't the problem. I've met guys who play tested FFG's 40k books. Lack of play testing wasn't the problem (as they were obsessive 40k fans that ignored everything to play games), the problem was that they were slack-jawed yokels that didn't comprehend the rules and made up shit...

Speaking to the "manosphere" there are several descriptions of it targeted to dramatically different men. You have Men's Rights Activists, Anti-Feminists, Monks (men who don't sleep with women), Conspiracy nuts, Pick Up Artists and Self improvement junkies. I fall into the self improvement...

I ran an oMage game a while back, see this thread: http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?p=428021&highlight=#428021 Frank rightly pointed out that I threw out just about everything that made the game oMage. I ran on the premise that the Crafts, Traditions and Technocracy annihilated each other during W...

I read the book a long damn time ago and can't remember what was good or bad about it other than it was really crunchy. Since it's been over a year, mind telling us how your game went?

I own all the Rogue Trader books as I love the fluff. The rules leave something to be desired. People have already spoke to the skill list, wounds, skill system... In RT in particular the ship combat system is commonly house ruled to make more sense. If you go over to Fantasy Flight's forums you can...

I like the 6 to 11 range myself. You can finally do things but the game doesn't break down (completely) yet.

There you go, that's half a billion dollars profit right there. Maybe for the studio. The licensee would see a lot less than that. And that's if the studio doesn't decide to shitcan the license, make the cat sidekick the main character, and attach the script to a gritty reboot of Puss in Boots or w...

Frank - interesting ideas on making one's own RPG for a Scion like setting. I don't have a head for that myself and typically end up house ruling existing games. I found a thread on the Onyx Path forums going into the rules into a bit more detail. It sounds like the system and ideas used are quite d...

"Leery" is the understatement of the year, Onyx Path is an affinity fraud scheme. If they were ever anything else (I must confess that I did like the 20th anniversary Vampire edition they put out, but it was pure nostalgia fodder and more of a "build your own vampire game" kit t...

Scion 2E Kickstarter

Anyone who can search may can find Frank T's scathing review of Scion 1E. I loved the premise, but found the rules lacking and the game full of holes. I was already thoroughly frustrated with it before reading Frank's review, which encapsulated most of the issues with the game. That said, there's no...

I got banned from TBP because I talked about the Manosphere too much. I waited a year and then made a new account which I use to lurk. It was a bit of a shock to realize that after joining in 2007 or so that the major forum of my hobby had gotten so politically extreme. It was a good thing in the lo...

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: The RPG?

Obviously this thread is for people who want to be constructive. For those who have seen the new MLP show, it definitely has its conflict (Nightmare Moon, Manticores, Hydras, etc). I don't think a straight D&D conversion would be a good idea though, as the adventures would be notably different....

Prak - which version of X-crawl? The old D20 one or the new Pathfinder version? I have both, but honestly, haven't read the pathfinder version, I'd like to think they cleaned up the Signature moves. The thing about them is that they give the PC permanent fame points, (or at least they used to) which...

I play a CAGM in my game in the Giant Slayer. With a moderate amount of optimization, my damage is 33+3d6, per hit, and I usually land 3 hits with haste. What level are you guys at? I think the Slayer would be better as a Fighter, and I think the Ranger would be better as a Fighter - IMO. Maybe the...

Given a similar level of optimization, is a Fighter significantly superior to a Barbarian that's not raging? Against better judgement I had wandered onto the pathfinder reddit and found some upvoted comment on how once the barbarian is out of rages because having a dozen fights in one day is totall...

Re: Urban Campaigns: Advice?

I tried to search the backposts, and couldn't find much. How much difference is there in running an urban campaign in D&D as compared to a more typical dungeon crawl or overland tribe-fight? The size of the settlement affects the scope, and the overall level is based more on the power of the re...

Ptolus is also a whole campaign world of... One City. If you're doing Forgotten Realms, Waterdeep has a campaign book for it. I remember skimming it 10 years ago and thinking it was ok, but I have no idea how useful it really would be now. Ptolus and Waterdeep: City of Splendors both suffer from ve...

Thinking about it, there are also some good supplements to running D&D campaigns in a city, but I can't for the life of me remember what they are called, and certainly not the 3.0 Cityscape book, which was a piece of shit.

Google is great - I think it's also very important to decide what kind of urban campaign you want to run (grimdark, shadowrun, terry pratchet etc), and then decide *how* the city is shaped/works/ and create other details to support that. Also, tons of threads on this in other forums out there: http:...
