HW's system was kinda of fucky in the sense that if you had enough luck points left (somehow both mana and 'armor') the shot would miss.

WildStar got shit on for having such highly visible AoE markers, but they were a step in the right direction. Nobody wants to die to bullshit they can't see coming because of other players' spell effects or an obtuse UI. I'd like to think it got shit on more by the fact that it was built (difficult...

Fairly old news but should be thrown out there for anyone that might care.

Activision (boo, hiss) is giving away Destiny 2 for free until the 18th, just log into Battle Net to claim it.

I've installed it and gave it a try and I am genuinely not impressed.

If we're talking about people with black shiny buttons being able to call down the wrath of gods, raise the dead, desecrate the land, or really do anything a Cleric of 5th level or higher can do, then you're goddamned right those people are getting sent to the gulag for the good of the state. You'r...

DoW1 had three Xpacs and they're actual expansions. And even then technically they're standalone games but if you have the previous ones you can play the previous races in multiplayer or campaign mode in the case of Dark Crusade and Soulstorm. DoW2 is the one with a stupidly large amount that are &q...

It's the base game. The DoW master collection (DoW, Winter Assault, and Soulstorm) is generally a better deal.

Prak's first two examples of classes he thought were appropriate to a game about sneaking around and uncovering webs of intrigue were Bard , a class whose every class feature revolves around shouting, and Cleric , a class who is required by law to prominently display their allegiance every time the...

Still only 4 episodes in to S2 (borderline living at work atm) but the VA for Godbrand is the voice of the Swedish merc Mattias Nilsson from the Mercenaries games. I was having trouble placing his voice when he first started talking.

D20 Modern wasn't a clusterfuck because the conversion wasbad, it's a clusterfuck because trying to use D&D rules for that sort of thing is a fucking terrible idea. Because in a modern setting, breaking into someone's home, stabbing them in the face, and carrying off all their valuables in a sa...

Lets jump past the fact that demons absolutely aren't present in fucktons of religions so obviously demons inhabiting the body of someone and rituals to exorcise them aren't in most religions that have ever been made. Let's not because a lot of cultures/religions across 6 fucking continents (and if...

Disaster relief work here. Last pay stub shows just under 40k after Uncle Scam takes his ~30% of my check. Last check was bigger than a "normal" check but not as big as they are going to be for the rest of the year (2 week check for 95 hours right as the shit hit the fan, whereas I'm doing...

From a DM perspective: A considerable percentage feel themselves narratively constrained if adventures are limited to a same zip code (also, d&d has never been conductive to urban adventures). From a player's perspective: There's only so many tombs to plunder within a same zip code, so no point...

Is a good reason for murder hobos precisely because they can solve problems that the locals can’t? Yes. Whether those reasons are superficially political, religious or otherwise. Your basic adventurer whose family are all dead and who has no other connections to any living being outside their adventuring party isn't going to set down roots that the GM can use to affect them. It's a sort of paranoia. This. Pretty sure Dogbert has done one or more comics on the subject. Also ...
