That's incorrect. Wick describes a number of different campaigns in a number of different settings and systems, and offers similar advice in all cases.

So, your next combat should sound like this: Player: I roll to hit. Succeed. Roll to damage. Ten hit points. Game Master: The villain grabs your sword arm (dice roll). He succeeds. You can’t use your sword next round because your sword arm is tangled up. Player: Uh. Okay. Roll for initiative? Game ...

In Exalted, there is a hard cap on the number of people you can defend against, and after that you can't apply your DV any more. In addition, each attack degrades your DV until you act again. I';m not sure what storyteller system you're using (no really - even though the systems are nominally the sa...

Not sure about blue steel. Blue ice is permanently cold, so it's huge for L&D, plus: A fun way for Necromancers to boost DCs The easiest way to boost DCs is to take Snowcasting the Cold Specialization and Improved Cold Specialization feats. If you are willing to carry around ice (like a blue ice...

I really despise both MiC and SpC, but that may be personal quirk. The Outside books tend to be blander than the Completes anyway. Complete Scoundrel (again, first I found) has many ways to hide potions, options for bypassing immunities for fighters (ghostblight, etc.), and druid armor. The magic we...

True fact: Saw a Bitcoin apologist on RationalWiki say that the Bitcoin, which is kinda at the area of "now takes more electricity to produce than the coin is worth", isn't uneconomical to produce because you can use your bitcoin mining rig to heat your home instead of running central hea...

The thing to remember is that 3e is the edition where they deliberately tried to make Diablo-style items. Diablo 2 items don't do interesting things for the most part as a design choice because it's a lot easier to program that way. To test this theory, I am about to grab the nearest book and look ...

EDIT: Turns out if you are honest with people and admit your feelings are irrational, normal people will cut you some slack if you're not a dick about it. You gave the game away with the Church comment. In earlier Ars Magica the setting was just to use history books as is. You can't have had an honest problem with the Church in the game not living up to your idea of the church's historical importance. It's not even possible, because the game asks you...

I'd hack up Exalted. It does exactly the things you want: powers are random and disproportionate, and most of the game is either building kingdoms to fight other kingdoms, sleeping around, or politicking. The actual combat is all trying to parlay your crazy random abilities into an unanswerable win....
