Heard it mentioned, cannot recall seeing it. Will look. Hm. Not sure - only read the first page I saw (seeking a general sense of it) - at least from that much, it didn't spark any interest. Though having casters "gather mana" before casting (if we have spells other than rituals) sounds li...

...which is that we can say fuck?

That's not a good trade for lower levels of discourse. If the discourse level was the same, for purposes of actually producing something, fine.

I'm not interested in "putting people down" who offer input. Nor am I interested in treating "input" that is "let us ask you 100 questions and grant zero assistance in answering any questions" as more useful than ignoring it. As for the "Special insight"...no,...

So do we want specialization, or do we want people learning sword, axe, spear, mace, flail (one and two handed versions of all) and never being particularly good at any given thing?

The cards might be interesting.

What about a not so hot bride?

And out of curiosity, at what point is something not a reward?

Because if "Reward" means "any desirable thing", everyone seeks a reward of some sort.

That kind of renders the term "Reward" meaningless in regards to "unrewarded".

That's convenient. Being able to type s before hit without it converting it to **** (something that I experienced on a site with worse codeing) keeps the filter from filtering stuff we don't want (mostly, at least) - assuming we want one at all, but that's another discussion from how well it works. ...

You're suggesting people be able to give up things for no equal value and still be able to participate. I am suggesting that not being the guys with +12 does not make you one of the guys who have something like (if +8 is medium BAB) +6. +10 is fine. +10 will win the encounters you are supposed to w...

Yes. Make it so that the AC they need to hit is <27 (technically <28, but I'm assuming we want more than just "doesn't need a natural 20".). If the AC of something of that level is 22, then Best Possible Bonus is 10+, average is 12+, and these guys are 14+ (to hit). Since the "average...

The fact that you won't look at what I've posted without seeking some way to mock it says more.

As does the fact you want an arguement in this thread about something having nothing to do with whether not the flaming and trolling going on here is harming the site.

Several things. The fact that you do not agree with what I think is a good idea does not make it a bad idea. So the question is, does the fencebuilder (who has thread closing powers) think we need to do something about the flaming/trolling besides what currently exists? Because I don't think this is...

This place has been around for many years so there is a slew of discussion of gaming discussion. There still gaming discussion like TNE, Gaijin and many others. Mo...

Remind me why this is called the Gaming Den and not the Flaming Den again? Seriously. The amount of actual discussion on games that isn't some form of mockery of whoever or whatever is ridiculously low for a group that claims to be familiar with and interested in this stuff. Treating trolling as per...

1) Good question. More than 3, probably less than 30 - though if he keeps them from being able to effectively gang up on him, 30 may well be possible. 2) Probably closer to lion than elephant. 1b) Good question. 2) Also a good question. I would like to make healing from serious wounds take a reasona...

That would explain why it is so nonproductive. Spitting venom is prefered to actually discussing gaming.

"They're easier." No, seriously - if it costs say 30 points and five years to learn the secrets of The Ultimate Strike, but five points to learn Swordplay 101, its going to be quite an investment, so you need to learn the easy ones. That of course means that the cost of the "advanced ...

I think we should incorporate something like Combat Schools with their own specialized moves and styles and weapons. That way, fighters are encouraged to broaden their knowledge base to make them more effective. On the other hand, should we let people go all Superfoot Wallace and just train 3 techn...

From what I know of 4e, yes. Also, are we trying to model Conan specifically (not my vote), which means some particular set of things regarding wizards, or are we just modeling that level of Sword and Sorcery and/or heroic fantasy? One thing that keeps lower powered wizards in check is the fact that...

Fighters (using that to mean "martial characters" - rogues to the extent that's a distinct skill set are seperate) should be the best in combat. That ought to be an undeniable given. That doesn't mean no one else can help out, but no spell a wizard can cast should render a sword or arrow u...

Yes - with mages being at a level where they can do things without invalidating that kind of fighter.

Since figuring out what exactly fighters (and such) are requires a setting, it would probably be best at this point to either create or pick one.

We need a rule against trolling. Vigorous arguement is one thing. Being blunt instead of beating around the bush is one thing.

Mocking and insulting other members of the site is another kettle of fish, and it adds nothing productive to treat it as tolerable behavior.
