Thanks for the feedback guys. JE: Thanks, I'll be using the Tomes and lots of homebrew for my campaign. Thanks for the tip on Red Rob's stuff, I'll be using that. Kaelik: I've decided to use RHoD, I've already started setting everything up in Roll20. I'm using Photoshop to resize and refine the maps...

Trying to run a good DnD campaign. Need help.

I'm trying to get a game started with a group of my friends that are decently experienced with 3.5 and pathfinder, and I wanted to run a fun and easy campaign starting at level 5, probably running through level 10-12. It's my first time DMing. Whats the most ideal system out there right now for DnD/...

Really cool class, nice job finishing it up. One of my players might be playing this is my coming campaign.

So, I'm trying to get my campaign on the road, and I wanted this system to be functional, but i can't seem to be satisfied with any of my feat designs. I was hoping you guys had some insight. Theres a few problems: I'm finding it conceptually difficult to come up with feats that are not numeric bonu...

Yeah, I see what you're saying Rob. I'll work on revising this, and educated was supposed to be level 1 lol.

Hmm, back to the drawing board on some of these, and I'll be back later with a revised list.

I've been putting some work into this system here and there. In my campaign, I will be using the Races of War combat rules, so many feats are based around that, and mention The Edge. You gain 1 feat per level. You must pick a feat that is appropriate for that level, and each time you level you may r...

Yeah, that makes sense, I was just thinking that simplified system would make it easier to design the feats.

Should there be feats for every level? Every two levels like spells? Am I overthinking this?

Been doing a lot of consideration on this. And alot of the stuff I said earlier was stupid, but I'm sorta just thinking out loud. I think feats should definitely be split into tiers by level. I think the best split is 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17-20. This solves a few problems: 1) Its better than Prere...

Well what do you consider to be the domain of... *Feats *Class *Skill *Race (especially ones with ECL+X) Figuring out what the heck feats do includes what they don't do and what everything else does. If you start making feats that are equal to class features (i.e. "always level appropriate&quo...

I think a big problem with the current feat system is that everyone tries to use it to make fighters work, but I think it needs to move away from that completely. Under this system, "Fighters" as a class should be fully combat functional without them, and probably shouldnt be a fighter at ...

Yeah, good point. For fun, heres a list of Metamagic feats courtesy of Wizards and Kaelik. Metamagic Feats: Enlarge Spell [Metamagic]: You can alter a spell with a range of close, medium, or long to increase its range by 100%. This increases the ML by +1. Widen Spell [Metamagic]: You can alter a bur...

One Feat Per Level: An Open Discussion

Alright guys! I used to run a tome campaign back in the day using the scaling feats, and I'm putting together a "Tome" campaign for my playgroup that is currently playing pathfinder (someone else is currently DMing). But, I'm having trouble coming up with a good feat per level list for my ...

Maybe Oracle curses can work?

To clarify, I mean tying the drawback directly to each ability you make a pact for.
