Re: Pick a damn outcome for your battles.

No matter which option you choose to axe, you also lose some risk: A) What's the point of having a combat system at all if you always win? B) Fatal consequences can be replaced by things that are nearly as unpleasant to many players (destruction of powerful items springs to mind) but nothing quite e...

Thanks for the responses. Just for reference, you can see the responses to a similar thread in a 1st edition forum. http://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39861&start=0 Peace, Bill A rapid read through that thread revealed responses much like the one's here, but my favorite p...

If you've read the PHB2 and the class books, you'll find that most feats at heroic tier are specifically designed to wank to a specific race/class combination. Why's that? Because it is complete design intent for the first 10 levels of your life to have your character be heavily defined by your rac...

I've started it 3 or 4 times, but can't get paseed the fiirst 100 pages. I did the same thing with LotR, and eventually I broke through the wall and finished (and enjoyed) that series, so I suspect that at some point the same thing will happen with Dune.

Re: Is the DM breaking the rules if......

Is the DM breaking the rules if s/he states that 1. Fighters get a feat every level of their class? Why or why not? No, but it would be bastardly to not tell everyone in advance. I would also want to know if they get regular feats every level or bonus feats every level. 2. The Player's Handbook is ...

Yeah. That's the one nerf that'll never happen for some reason.
To be fair, WotC is just trying to make up for having fucked Wizards in 3e. Oh, wait...

I voted for Lokapala because I have no idea what any of those words mean (except for what I've read in this thread), so in my role of uneducated layman I chose the one I thought sounded coolest. Seeing a super-ability be the name of a race seems odd from my persepective. It would be like naming a ra...

Yeah, most people here believe that adding more tactical elements and choices to D&D is a good thing. I enjoy having lots of options in my games, I just prefer to make most of them a) slowly out of combat (i.e. character building) or b) fluidly as part of combat. Back OT, I've been mulling over...

So, we had this discussion ad nauseam. I don't mean to sound self-centered, but how'z-a-bout the merits of my sugestion? And your own suggestions to it too. I personally like option #1-just lay it out there and give the player the choice. I don't think that PrCs should be required , and how would y...

That's more of a selling point than a complaint to me. Why? Do you enjoy having to have your fighter carried around in a handbag to the site of the battle while the wizards are doing all of the cool shit like forging artifact swords and opening portals to demon realms and creating cities from scrat...

Fighters...basic schtick at level 16 is about the same as they had at level 1 That's more of a selling point than a complaint to me. I've always been a fan of playing characters with the mentality "see badguy, hit badguy". That's why 4e rubbed me raw-it tried to turn the beaters into cast...

I was researching Pathfinder and one of the reviews on Amazon said that there were some threads here that went into a lot of detail about it, so I bird-dogged it and here I am. Congrats Frank, you cost Paizo thirty bucks. (By the way, I'm friends with your brother-in-law).
