Re: Does Anyone Take the Diplomacy Rules Seriously?
I'll start by saying that they are a little unbalancing in my opinion. However, running roughshod over the kingdom is a little extreme. In ancient times, yes you can bluff a king out of his robe, and in fact was done quite often. However, kings are surrounded by these people called "advisors&qu...

Re: Laptops at the Gaming Table
I would agree - hopefully the player isn't using the computer just to prove the DM wrong. IMX, when players have used it, it is when a player is trying to help a Dm find a rule that they are wishing to find. It's like when everyone scans their books at once in reference in order to find a rule that ...

Re: More bad advice from Wizards!
My take on this whole thing is this:[br][br]1) I'd do what the author noted in the previous paragraph in the article than was noted above - talk to the player first and let them know that kind of activity isn't appreciated at the game.[br][br]2) Now, this is where I diverge from the article. Meh, to each their own. Heroforge for me looks like spreadsheets/tabs from Hell, and some of those colors in Heroforge blinded me as well. In both cases, you've pretty much got the same argument - you get what you pay for.

Re: Laptops at the Gaming Table
I've gamed with a guy before that used a laptop. It didn't affect me or the rest of the group as well. However, the guy had it facing away from the rest of the group so that he could interact with the rest of everybody and, well, used it like a character sheet or a rule book - on a reference basis. ...

Re: Peace.
Not to be too nit-picky, but I would hardly use Ford and GM as role models of powerful organizations. Both are seriously struggling currently, and actually it was because of what 420 noted. They're losing market share to Toyota because that organization is known for high quality/customer satisfactio...

Re: How about we NOT make it a feat, you clown?
The thing is that making it as a normal part of the class, you're actually taking away from the customization feature of the class and in essence you're making it so that everyone is nearly the same. Hey, as a fighter, I might intentionally focus on other things knowing that I plan on being around o...

Re: How about we NOT make it a feat, you clown?
But the thing is that what your argument is focusing on isn't the skill system but that certin classes just don't shine more than others when it comes to skills. Just make it so that the fighter gets more skills - like maybe 4 skill points per level.[br][br]The thing is that characters get to dedica...

Ok, the ones that come to mind are:[br][br]1) Use air and sea military power to aid and promote counterinsurgency within Iraq. That's what we did in Afghanistan and it proved to be somewhat successful in getting the government that we wanted to have removed without use of invasion.[br][br]2) Use air...
