I saw the game going for $19.99. Is the game worth it?
I thought fallout 1 and 2 were a lot of fun, so is it worth buying, should I wait, or are there better games to meet my tactical post-apocalyptic needs?

Is it SAGA or a different edition that allows you to redirect your ships shields? It wasn't quite "hand to hand", but in one of the editions redirecting all of your shields to the front then ramming something was a really effective way of killing things smaller than your ship. After we won...

Another vote for Exalted.
That moment when the DM stated "No one passes through that side of the dessert anymore due boarder conflict between your laser shooting t-rex minions and Deathlords the undead army" forever burned the game into my soul.

What are your favorite TTRPG reports?

What are your favorite TTRPG report/journals? My job has made it very impractical for me to join a group, so I was wanting to read some entertaining player or DM journals to tide me over.
I apologize if this should have been posted in "In the Trenches" instead.

There's a dog house outside that I think a boar lives in. I don't know what that is about, but it hasn't hurt anyone yet so we leave it alone. When our other magic user first told us about it we thought it was a drunken hallucination especially since it wasn't there when we checked afterward. It wa...

Revelation: Noah didn't save people and animals from the flood. He was an asshole magic user gathering up animals and sacrificing them after he had his getaway boat built. Possibly my favorite quote on the den. This system sounds horrible but the narrative is great. Please keep posting. Do you have...

I think this ties pretty close to the Immortal Everyman Droid build Dean described earlier. When my group played SAGA, it seemed that droids were the best "race" to be since they could mod themselves, convert cash to stats (buy a better droid, switch out hard drives, brainchips, or the equ...

Your favorite 3.0 builds

3.5 has had a lot of love on this board, but it's premature older brother 3.0 not so much. Brothers and sisters now is the time to show the world the best 3.0 had to offer!
I never played 3.0, I wanted to see what people enjoyed in 3.0 that they couldn't enjoy in 3.5.

What Are The Effects Of Campaign PTSD On You?

What are some superstitions (habits with no in-game direct cause) your characters exhibit in games you play in because of your past experience as a player in other games? After playing a game with Virgil my characters tend to stab tables when they sit down at them for fear of them turning out to be ...

What to play after Arkham Horror

My old ttrpg group has shifted to playing board games now since we often can't get a consistant group together for rpgs any more. My friends and I really enjoy playing Arkham Horror, right now though we want to take a break from it for a bit. We took a break from it by playing Smashup (+expansion) f...

To buy Dominions 3 or 4?

Hello good folk of the Den, I have been interested in trying out Dominions for a while, but am not sure if I should pick up Dominions 3 or 4. At gamersgate I could get Dominion 3 for $5 or Dominions 4 for $30, so now I wonder if the differences are worth the extra 25 dollars. Any thoughts would be g...

Exalted Reincarnated

Me and virgil were thinking about doing an Exalted inspired system. The main things we wanted the system to have would be: Players would be able to out rank gods and punching them in the face, Martial arts, and World shaping powers. We were debating on how to do the martial arts system. We could dev...

Re: Revised OD&D Notes (unpolished)

I had some questions about the necromancer powers. Drain: Cantrip, Ranged, Presence vs Willpower for 1d6 damage as the victim's mana is removed. Does this power actually drain mana, or does it just do damage? If it just does damage maybe change the word mana to essence, or lifeforce (though lifeforc...

Alternity: ICC reports from a pickup group

The story so far. We have been employed by a Nur (generally referred to as employer), who works for the Galactic Concord (think UN in space who have their own standing army). Nur has hired some individuals (the party) to placed them on a small neutral planet. Our task is to sway the planet into join...

To play Alternity or not to play

I was asked to join a Alternity game recently. What are the den's thoughts on the Alternity system? A quick search shows that souran hates it, but CatharzGodfoot seemed to think it was ok. Any other thoughts? If the system is worth a shot, any advice during character creation, or while I am playing ...
