Allow me to simplify - we're just two people. Two people will never, ever, have a chance to come up with every weird synergy or idea, that a larger base of playtesters will. Sure, we're not dumb so we don't throw away something that isn't based on playtesting but on math (some people DO spot the wei...

Having played with the guy who wrote this though, I can say that this isn't how things work with Complete Control. You don't buy "the fifth level of Druid" and gain everything from that specific level. If you want spellcasting like a fifth level Druid, you buy access to their spell list an...

As I said, we look for any and all feedback and that backed by math, heavy playtesting or "real game" playtesting takes precedence over opinions. So in some regards, we are very much like Paizo - a real game experience can tell us things that math cannot - like if a class feels boring to p...

Well, since we have such awesome fans, we do a modicum of math and the rest is hashed out by fans and contributors. So not only do we do math, we listen to others who also do math. ;)

Yeah I read the Tome Series, or atleast the first ones that came out in... 2004? Way back. Now, I responded to how Complete Control was meant to be used, since there seemed to be a misunderstanding about how one would get Sneak Attack in that series. Now I didn't write it, I just helped proofread it...

Just felt like chiming in that you can only take Sneak Attack once from a particular source and then you are supposed to scale it. So buying it three times "from" three different classes would not get you 3d6 Sneak, but rather three times the very same 1d6. But anyway and anyhow. Just sayi...

@Ghostwheel: A "striker"-focused Soulknife will do a fair amount of damage. Not competing directly with a Rogue, but he's also far more of a "fighter" type than a damage dealer. Atleast this is the path we chose to take with the class. @TarkisFlux: Both. We had two campaigns that...

Me and Jeremy are the owners of Dreamscarred Press, so I'd say I'm a contributor ;) But besides owning the company, I've also actively taken part in the writing of the book. We are doing an Open Playtest/Design for our Psionics Expanded, but as you say, it's for Pathfinder and if you find some of th...

Oh well, at least PF is selling books for nice guys ... Dreamscarred Press sold out of their first two prints of their XPH port pretty much instantaneously. Well if its any consideration I've been working on a Psywar for the Tome of Awesome. It basically has a few more power points, and advanced le...

This is exactly my problem - we can assume that the society that exists is NOT agrarian since having large fields is equal to instant-death by the evil shit out there. So how does a community survive? I'm personally leaning more and more towards the fact that there WON'T be any "magic merchants...

The "hero economy"

Assuming a 4E "Points of Light" world where only heroes have a decent chance of defending the populace from the countless evils out there, what would define such a world? Magic items, available fairly early, can feed and host a group of adventurers without problems. So, what can a populati...
