What's the cost for a hacker to take control of someone's mind? If a magician righteously fails in the attempt he bleeds out his nose or worse. But if a hacker does it through pure technological means...? "Connection failed, try again." I'm not against the idea of brain-hacks, especially i...

Speaking from experience the Sugar Busters approach is a fairly effective and easy food plan to follow. I switched my meals to a whey protein shake in the morning followed by a low-carb lunch and dinner. If I needed a snack I ate an apple or something so incredibly whole wheat it cut my mouth accomp...

I checked out the preview of the new SR gun book. My contrary opinion: the production quality is sweet. Full color illios look great. Same with the airplane book. But who wants to buy a product filled with weapons that won't even be used in game? Is there there that big a call for "vintage"...

That would explain the chubby people I know who run all the time yet never seem to lose a pound. When I switched to a combination of weight resistance with moderate cardio and yoga I dropped 15 pounds pretty quickly. I probably could have lost the weight with just the yoga since it focuses on variat...

Designating a color swatch with a single word like "salmon" is a commercial practice used to simply purchase. Real color lovers use CMYK (plus a white base if using paint), hexadecimal or Pantone numbers to determine color.

More warmed up stuff with little original content and charging people twice for stuff that's in the pdf's and in dead tree format... I don't care if the material is original or not. It's the mandate with each new edition of an RPG to re-hash old material and tweak the stats to fit the new engine. T...

There was an entire mini-series written by Geoff Johns prior to "Infinite Crisis" that pulled apart and set into stone Power Girl's official origins. She started as a junior Justice Society of America member when she was introduced in the 1970s. She was retconned into a magical Atlantean a...

I would emphasize pursuing an internship. Some do pay, though not much, and income isn't the point. It's another way to network and gain needed experience. If a company likes you they'll typically hire you on after a set point. If there's an opening, that is. I would also recommend finding a recruit...

Re: The definitive notion of Magical Tea Party

It predates that significantly. Statement withdrawn. It's the first time I remember seeing its use. Its also not intended as a slight on resolving stuff by just talking. When used as a negative its because a game designer copped out and wrote a bunch of stuff that cold be summarised as MTP. Its als...

Re: The definitive notion of Magical Tea Party

I've lurked long enough to be intrigued by the game design notion of "magical tea party." The crowd here seems to use it for non-crunchy game conflict resolution. <snip> However, I would be interested to read other folks' definitions and examples. For this crowd, coining MTP was originall...

I saw SR4A and the Sixth World Almanac on the shelf at an Indianapolis Borders yesterday. The game store chains seem to be hit and miss in my area but the small indie shops have most if not all of the 4th ed. material still in print.
