Didn't they make the characters using those spells explicitly better anyway, with more feats/stat points/cool things?

I was there for it. Woke up early today, got a message, saw the entire world turn red.

Then I had to walk through an omnipresent brown cloud to get to uni. I'm still rubbing dust out of my eyes, and EVERYTHING is dirty now.

Cars, roads, trees, houses, etc etc.

I think bonus powers over the normal maximum would be fine, unless there's some crazy extra use for them I'm missing out on. As for moving to the other schedules, lunar could simply be a matter of the full moon giving the bonus. Ritual bonuses are a bit harder, but adding in a sacrifice or having it...

It becomes very hard to try and justify the actions of the government as incompetence when you have a look at some of the things that went on, especially this one.

Basically I'm fine with Wood/Iron/Silver as ways to dish out aggravated damage. Silver would be a lot better as a vulnerability to have (in that no one is going to randomly have a silver weapon on hand unless they are Larry Talbot), but fucking everyone thinks of silver weapons first thing when the...

Weaknesses like "water" and the like are just right out because forcing people to sit out adventures because their character is useless there is stupid. Tavish is entirely right with regards to the weaknesses. An extra benefit of this is that we don't need to shoehorn in weaknesses for typ...

Water is an absolutely terrible weakness. Firstly because it means that Baali are now forbidden from showering. Furthermore, considering blood has water in it, why the fuck are there any vampires with this weakness? And how do wererats get this, characters who traditionally travel through sewers, wh...

Variable DCs? No, that's a terrible solution unless you make a bunch of them "impossible" Some skills just can't be used to solve some problems. No matter how good you are at hiding, you can't use that to climb a cliff. No matter how smooth a talker you are, you can't talk a chest of gold ...

You have explicitly set up a situation in which "X successful hide checks" is a way to beat your challenge of finding an HQ. Hide skill is now a divination. This is blatant strawmanning. Lago is not saying that "To sneak into a zombie infested city and find the HQ, roll hide 8 times....

Aharon, you are wrong. The ritual system is useless, because apart from the crappy teleports, you are better off, both financially and in terms of the effect you get, just hiring someone to physically do what you want or doing it yourself. Knock isn't worth the paper its' printed on, nor is the scry...

I personally am a big fan of spell resistance working like fire or cold resistance. It makes spells less effective, instead of "doesn't happen at all". The only problem is figuring out how the fuck that works with spells that do things other than just deal damage(i.e. all the ones you real...

There's a very limited subsection of the law and foreign policy that really has a noticeable effect on supernaturals, and that they can't influence/change themselves. In reality, there are no laws regarding supernaturals, because there are no supernaturals. Now, you must explain why there should be...

Josh, that is an even stupider argument than balance.

Are you suggesting that people are incapable of simply photocopying the relevant sections, or having digital copies on a laptop?

You don't actually have to take the entire book with you everywhere you go and play.

Fundamentally, taking over the leader of a given nation is just a bad deal. Why would you risk your candidate losing/being discovered/etc etc when you could simply give a few "donations" to each political party and have policy shifted in a direction you choose? The law and supernaturals do...

You don't actually need mechanics to govern the whole "People get edgy when you draw your magic sword." When you're talking to the Werewolf clan, they are understandably going to be edgy when you pull out your magical silver sword of wolf-slaying, much like how ordinary people get edgy whe...

The power source should be obvious - remember that the various power sources have effects on their own - whether they sour milk or whatever. You don't HAVE to be able to remember what power source it has, but the power source should be obvious or logically figured out from the description of the giv...

One thing that I'd like to see is a way for more than one player to win, but not all the time. I think it would add an interesting element to teamplay if a shared victory COULD happen, but was not necessarily essential or guaranteed.

Charisma is another good example - Half-Orcs and Dwarves are less frightening than Elves!. I don't actually see this as a downside. Half-orcs and dwarves aren't as good at understanding and relating with people, and this is one of the best ways to intimidate them. Hannibal Lecter is a lot more inti...

Why would easy sundering be a problem? It's barely worthwhile as a single action. Well, the angelic wank squad problem. A squad of angels teleports in where you can't see them, and fires off enough arrows to turn all of your equipment into so much scrap metal/fabric. I suppose by easy I mean the fa...

Something that springs to mind here is that one of the biggest problems is the ease of sundering, as the angelic wank squad highlights. This seems somewhat silly to me. Super amazing magical weapons, the sort that can't be replaced in a few seconds by a wish or some such, should be hard to destroy. ...

Actually, the problem gets even worse when you take a look at Mask of the Betrayer, an official (and somewhat badly designed) CRPG expansion for NWN 2. The entire plot is really a backhanded swipe at the concept of the wall. Do you know why the wall exists? The entire reason that Kelemvor didn't kno...
