@JE: I totally get that. Basically an LJ for copypasta with an added opinion from the POV of a player whose base assumption is that 4e is a good system, and who is willing to see even the parts that are total failures as being good parts of a good whole. @Roy: There is no "disarm" maneuver...

The hope is definitely that the hilarity will eclipse the boredom.

It could very well be. Look at the sheet and figure it out.

It's PbP, so in essence it will log itself, but if we want somewhere to post it here we can just use the discussion thread under "In The Trenches" that we already have or make a new one just for logs from the game.

Right, I got that. And as someone who plays PbP pretty often, I don't think it's a good idea. Having to make one post a day is one thing, having to make two posts every time you feel like making one post is another. Plus, this is supposed to be hella funny. Nobody is going to have two different awes...

Having played with the Artificer, I'm pretty sure a 5 Artificer party could also beat almost anything. Their at-will, Magic Weapon, gives a +1 untyped bonus to attack and an untyped bonus to damage equal to either their Con or Wis for every ally adjacent to them. Five guys, all spamming this, can ra...

I'll get it set up on RPOL and post a link when I get home.

I think that as a satire, we should do things by the book. Mix 1 balanced party with 1 standard adventure, add humor to taste.

Couldn't care less. I hang out on dndonlinegames.com, so it would be way easy for me to make a game there, but I assume it's not difficult to sign up and make a game at MW or RPOL or wherever.

Dude. Ring of Mammal Control. That's frickin' hilarious.

I think the only one of these settings I've ever even heard of before (besides GH and FR) is Spelljammer, and that from a bunch of people who enjoy GURPS. Miniature giant space hamsters indeed.

Violence: Thanks dude! JE: Probably WoW, but it hardly matters cause 90% of MMOspeak is common to all of them. For powers, you have your At-Will powers which you spam repeatedly. Your Basic Attack gets lumped in here too, but you'll never use that unless you're making an attack of opportunity. Alway...

Hey, they also won a CCG award for Shards of Alara. MtG is still doing just fine, 4th edition nonsense or no.

I read a bit about Mouse Guard and I found the book for a decent price. My tabletop group is gonna try it out in a couple weeks.

Plot synopsis! Y'know, that really sounds less like a game and more like a script. I mean, Roy, you could really just sit down and write that whole thing out yourself and then we could all have a good laugh about it. If it's a game, then it should just work however it works, and the humor should co...

Good point.

Still, at least when Wizards releases them you can go between different DMs or games and always have that resource to go back to when you need to justify why your character has laser-vision.

In my group, we never had a custom PrC. Just the ones from the books. Mostly just the good ones from the books. I always thought the design intent of PrCs was to give characters a schtick that was unique to them. It gave designers space to do crazy shit like "you can turn into Green Diamond Man...

Regarding how skill challenges force people to ruin adventures, I don't even think that just applies to the players. I think the biggest crime of skill challenges is that they corrupt new or inexperienced DMs into thinking that this is really how skills should work. It completely destroys the suspen...

I'd tone down assensing and tone up spellcasting. Then specialize in something to which your mentor spirit also gives a bonus. I'd also find out what the other members of your group are doing, cause those points in Stealth/Athletics/Influence are going to look mighty silly when you never get picked ...
