I usually get my news from various places on the internet, msn.com and news.myway.com I have a TV, but I hate watching the news on there. I prefer to read it in 30 seconds versus watch them blunder through it for 45 minutes. That, and I just don't have much time - I haven't even been posting here as...

I'm basically of the opinion that a movie in 3D damn well better be doing gimmicky stuff like having shit fly at you from the screen because as an artist, I have absolutely no need to pay $3-5 dollars more for just added depth. My eyes do that for me just fine. I can't watch 3d =( Instant migraine....

So I'm trying to remember the name of a fantasy book series I've read sometime in the last 3-4 years. It has a female protagonist who deals with herbs and also had something to do with travelling with an army during war. She apparently was captured or something by the enemy side and became a courte...

We are all OK! :) On the way home from getting our Christmas tree, a deer jumped in front of the car. It happened so quickly that Ess and Giovanni didn't even see it happen (thank heavens my son didn't watch me hit Bambi). No one was hurt. The car still was able to drive us home, but the damage was...

How does one go about getting a loan for a car? Do you pick out the car first, or do you go to the bank to get pre-approved then pick it out? There are so many variables that it is hard to say. Using the dealer's financing options is not always a ripoff. If you are buying a NEW car, for example, an...

I think it is interesting how our taste in reading material can change over the years. When I was in 8th grade a teacher made us read Treasure Island. For one, I hated having to read with the class because everyone has different reading speeds. I also read a page or two and decided it was boring, so...

That is a fantastic idea, and I may steal it or something close to it. I saw, possibly on nifty or on failblog (win section) a cool idea that I would love to implement someday- basically, a free library for neighborhoods. A big birdhouse-looking box by the road that opens up to reveal a library of b...

My business is set up as an LLC, so the basic taxes for us should be easy, but I am starting to wonder about things like SSI. I will deal with it when the time comes. No employees, just the two owners.

Good info in this thread, I will have to keep it in mind!

I had no idea how much I used my laptop for work-related stuff until it died. Ugh, the misery. I really hope it's just the cord. That said, I was going to post more here, but I have been so super busy that I barely get to glance once a week lately. That's a good thing, really, but if I could use a d...

except in my household we don't even have smart phones so that's an extra strike against it. We only have mine for business purposes. If not for that, I'd have probably the most basic POS you can get! Husband's is basic, but it's damn near indestructible. I'll also text someone if I need to communi...

What's the beef with texting? Granted, when I had an older cellphone with just a number pad it was a total pain in the ass. I understand that complaint. With a keyboard of some sort though? I'd rather text you than talk to you. Conversations are more to the point that way and there's less annoyance...

I blame Amethyst_butterfly. But I finished Magician and then Jimmy the Hand. Feist is a decent fantasy author but he really does have the generic women need to be protected and they aren't worth anything. The princess is impetuous. The whore is strong willed but still a hurting creature. The wife o...

Funny observation: Renting a Uhaul 1-way to where I need it? Just shy of a grand. Renting a minivan from Enterprise 1-way? About $70 a day. I'm sure one random person's experience with Enterprise is about as useful as shit, but... I would still recommend wariness. We recently discovered that Enterp...

I have been having a mini power struggle with the bums that are leeching off me about the trash can (which I might add predates both her, her mouthy bitch of a brother that was here first, and the roommate before that). 1) BAMF fbmf, you were totally wrong and Dance of Dragons did come out on whatever day. Remember that? 2) I just wanted to bring that up, but this thread will mostly be for me to point to Ron Paul's polling numbers in a few months and laugh at GX. I didn't until you brought it up, but I cheerfully ...
