No, what I'm saying is that even if an item doesn't shift the RNG it can still substantially change what encounters you can handle ... and in the mid to high level of the game I don't see players calling anything less than that sweet either.

In fantasy you get character defining items which represent large boosts to their competency.

In the end a cloak of invisibility is always going to hugely powerful or nerfed so far into oblivion that the player stops finding it interesting.

Training should be able raise skills, without progressing your character in other ways. XP (or it's equivalent) should also be able to raise skills. Maybe +1 to a skill for a year of study with some diminishing returns at the high end in a D20 game? It becomes slightly more obvious just how magical ...

On the one hand I like the concept of the Forge, a community site where you can easily share/download maps/encounters/adventures/modules which you can drop into your campaign should really be part of every VTT. On the other I can't help but think they are another one of those IT failures WotC is so ...

When a weapon is larger than you it should just stop doing more damage and get a bullrush effect for free. If a player is wielding some gargantuan greatsword through some means it makes no more sense that the human he is hitting just stands there like a brick wall when hit than if a dragon tailswipe...

EA's involvement has been hit an miss ... I think they had as much influence on ME2 as DA2 and although I hated ME2 it was a huge success and probably much cheaper to make than ME1. ME3's ending was a home grown disaster, a writer with a massive case of NIH with a producer who enabled him to fly sol...

So if you consider casual gamers to be real gamers, and you should, then you can find many communities where conventionally attractive and hip people are happy to sit down and play RPG's. In many communities finding hip people at all would be a problem ... but no matter how comprehensive and well-d...

I mean, of course you need to have some sort of system for determining whether or not Ranger Danger successfully crosses a slippery log bridge: you know, general adventure stuff. But that could be handled old school style, with ability checks vs. DC. For the specialized stuff though, why not treat ...

I'm not impressed by Defensive Duelist. Proficiency bonuses are thoroughly underwhelming, and dexterity is a dump stat for heavy armor users so they won't want to use finesse weapons. You just need 13 dex to take the feat, you can still use strength for attack with a finesse weapon and benefit from...

The action economy is.... -You have a Move, Standard, and Swift action Make things as simple as they need to be ... this is too simple (or rather it would be a lie, you'd have lots of other actions even if you didn't name them). I'd say 4e got it almost right for a non-simultaneous turn flavour of ...

It's still too complex for what it is, if you just want to roll against bullshit DC's and have the DM arbitrary decide outcomes without rolling you can make it far simpler.
