Alignments that work

As we all know, DnD alignment does not work. It doesn't resemble any sort of morality and it's not even consistant with itself. Good, Evil, Lawful and Chaotic can mean whatever you want them to. This sucks. I offer the following definitions of the various alignments in order to fix this: Good vs. Ev...

It is implied by the definition. If there was nothing you couldn't do you cold do anything later . The basic self referentiality paradox is insurmountable by the definition of omnipotence. Either you can do something to keep yourself from being able to change something in the future or you can't. T...

I think the tiers idea has some merit. Three tiers, common (Swinherding, sailing, tracking), heroic (Conanesque swordfighting, archery, killing people without magic stuff) and supernatural (stuff like teleport, alter weather, transform into snake). PCs are on the heroic tier. They have heroic and co...

That really doesn't work very well when you taken into consideration that A] most things in sigil have an "Always X alignment" tag, and B] even if you are able to change your alignment, it's a stupid idea because it will make your afterlife suck for you.

So one would run two hp pools (or 3, if one has replacement armor)? Sounds a bit complicated for my taste. What about bypassing armor? or elemental damage? Yeah, 2 hp pools. I don't think it's too complicated. You just subtract damage from armor, then subtract anything leftover from health. With ar...

You've got 30 hp, armor grants 20. You take 25 dmg. You take the armor off. How many hp do you have left? You put on (old or new) armor afterwards, how many hp do you have? You have 25 health and 0 armour (you are wearing no armour), for a total of 25 hit points. If you put on new armour, you have ...

Three directions; distance, ground and space. Five moves. 1) Engage. Raises attack and ground, lowers distance. Can only be used if distance is above 0. While attacking, try to engage. 2) Disengage. Raises defense and distance, lowers ground. Can only be used if ground is above 0. Use to escape atta...

While in the real world "gods" are just one of the many transcendental guarantors that people believe in, in D&D they have stat blocks and are therefore not transcendental. I think this means it doesn't matter at all what they do, since someone with a better stat block can change it, ...

Elennsar, by arguing that the moral rightness and wrongness of an action outweights if it is a good idea or not, you implictly admit that you believe that something that is a bad idea can be morally right and that something that is a good idea can be morally wrong. This results in some profoundly fu...

Balancing specialization is fundementally hampered by the fact that people have two hands and thus there is a hard limit on how many different weapon types you can be expected to use at the same time(2). Thus, if you can spend points to specialize in more than two weapons and being specialized effec...

Yeah, not that fast. Over a scale of days, hours tops, would be more like it. For weapon skills, if we go with Frank's system, why would "Put everything into swords" even be an option? It should be something like "I have a total dicepool of 20, this means I can get a 20 points worth o...

The magic system, if there is one, should be totally divorced from the fighting people system. Don't use the same stats, don't use the same resources, don't make a magic user unable to fight people or a fighter unable to know about magic. An example of something we want: A evil wizard sacrifices som...
