Re: Anyone feel like min-maxxing in D&D anymore?
At high levels of play, there is alot of research of opponent's games to find info about their tendencies. And at that level, someone who has studied their opponent will have a great advantage over someone who just comes in with good strategy.

Re: Anyone feel like min-maxxing in D&D anymore?
This whole concept of three types of gamers is inherently stupid. Repeatedly saying "wargamer" "deckbuilder" and "roleplayer" doesn't make the terms any more valid-all they are is your personal rationalizations for what you do and do not like in a game.[br][br]For insta...

Re: Anyone feel like min-maxxing in D&D anymore?
I have to agree completely with PhoneLobster. Anyone who has played any card game competitively knows just how much players want balance. It is usually players who call for bannings/errata/restrictions far before any official body does for particular cards. They probably complain about balance MORE ...

Re: Rogue--Starting at 1st
The reason I suggest to go with spring attack and two handed fighting is so that you aren't stuck in combat getting thrashed. Sure, two weapon fighting gets you more sneak attack in theory, but how often would you want to stand base-to-base for an extended period of time with anything that has any m...

Re: Rogue--Starting at 1st
As for skill selections, I pretty much agree with everyone above. But I would personally stay away from two weapon fighting, as your to hit is gonna be low anyways. I would also seriously consider a 1 or 2 level dip in fighter to help round out your combat abilities. Also, i'd go high str and use a ...

Re: PrC Requirements
The way I see classes is as largely a package of abilities, and not as some involved backstory. And trying to use class as a defining characteristic becomes increasingly ridiculous with free multiclassing and when someone chooses to take 1-3 level dips in 5 different classes. To make there be some g...

I just went and looked again at the entries. I also noticed that the current winner has 10 levels of Dread Pirate. It seems that they have some confusion about the definiton of "optimization".

Best thing I could think of with Shades is the Draconic binding out of Draconomicon, which unless they errata'd it online, is still Conj (Creation). IIRC, Shades duration is the same as the original spell, and the original lasts as long as the dragon is doing your task. Normally, a dragon can just f...

Was I the only one who noticed that they now claim that you only gain XP for a trap by discovering and disarming it? Re: What classes are needed?
If I were able, I would make all classes similar to hulking hurler/master thrower/exotic weapon master; they would be very few levels, and most (if not all) would have choices for abilities. Or you might have base classes be around 5 levels, and PrC's be 3 with class features chosen from a group. I ...
