For anyone who happens to have seen it, how does the revised version of the third party Vanguard class measure up, at least compared to other 2/3 casters. It's essentially a gish in a can like the magus, but chooses its spells known with the bard progression off the sorcerer/wizard list, casts spont...

So, something that nags at me in both D&D and Pathfinder: unless you have class features that specifically require it, why would you ever wield a single one-handed weapon over a two-hander as a meleer? For that matter, why wield a quarterstaff either?

So, now that we have even more 2/3s casters in the hunter and the warpriest, how do the various 2/3s casters that aren't the summoner stack up against each other? Like, which is better between Magus and Alchemist? And inquisitor and bard are there too.

So, I like the idea of being able to be a caster and also good with a sword, namely, the gish type. Unless you're abusing the spell-like ability prerequisite rules to get into Eldritch Knight, give up on the idea entirely. Coming back to this, what about if you are using spell-like ability early en...

I've reached the point where I don't believe in the existence of Exalted 3e, and won't until it is actually released as a thing that exists. So it's like Duke Nukem Forever that way. Basically what I'm saying is I expect it'll take 15 years to make and be a huge flopping disappointment when it does ...

I think I'm more inclined to Oracle over shaman anyway, simply because I think it's easier to fluff an oracle as more independent and self-determining than a Shaman. Also, I just like Oracle more than Shaman, for reasons I'm not entirely sure of.

So, I like the idea of being able to be a caster and also good with a sword, namely, the gish type. Play a Samsaran oracle with the Spirit Guide archetype (Advanced Class Guide). Cherry-pick spells from the paladin/ranger list with your Mystic Past Life feature and then cherry-pick wizard/sorcerer ...

So, I like the idea of being able to be a caster and also good with a sword, namely, the gish type. But how badly would I be shooting myself in the dick to be a gish rather than a full caster, and would I be better off with Magus or with a Blade Adept Arcanist possibly prestiging into eldritch knigh...

I'm a bit unclear, Prak, did you actually find a leaked pdf of the final book, or just give up and settle for the playtest document?

So, on the topic of the magus, how does the staff magus archetype measure up? Does it just suck horribly, or is it potentially worth taking?

So, for a character who is an arcane mage who is also skilled with a sword, would I be better served with a Magus or an Eldritch Knight with some manner of early entry?

I have a pathfinder question of my own: which is typically a better approach: to sacrifice 2 low level feat slots to reduce MAD, or to take the MAD, and keep those feat slots open? For example, I'm wondering which is the better approach for a magus, be it str-based for melee, or dex-based using the ...

I'm thinking of trying out Neverwinter as a free player, specifically as a wizard. How would it be recommended to build a wizard in this game, as I'd rather not sink hours into it only to shoot myself in the foot as a primarily solo type player?

I was braingstorming an idea I had for a character; essentially, the ultimate creator mage (that is, a spellcaster who specializes in using magic to will things into existence, not necessarily a crafter), but am torn as to which to use for the base class chassis: a conjurer wizard or a cleric with t...

Since this is the pathfinder thread, I have a couple of bits of pathfinder advice that I would like to solicit. 1) My friends and I recently started a game at level 8, and I had the idea of playing a "Laser" Cleric after seeing the Aasimar feat " Heavenly Radiance ". However, I'm...

I agree on the closed fist thing being handled poorly. I would've liked to play through with that if it was actually presented as it was said to be, but instead it's the same standard puppy eating baby kicking asshole that most "evil" alignments in games turn into. As for the chi regenerat...

So, back on the topic of character optimization, I was monkeying with the idea of an elementalist type druid for pathfinder. I know I want to go for more of a caster and less of a melee type, but aside from that and the essential Natural Spell and Wild Speech feats, don't know what else to go for. W...

So, here's a question I've had on occasion: Blasting is not a very good route for a wizard to go, be it pathfinder or 3e/3.5, so then how does a wizard take their enemies out if they're solo and without a party to do the hp killing for them?
