Re: Have there ever been good sex rules for D&D?

I would suggest using Fate combat with customized skills and stunts. That will give you and your players plenty of opportunities to create whatever sex-based consequences and boosts you feel are funny, while still giving some mechanical structure. The zones rules offer a whole avenue for game mechan...

I've recently revised my groups house rules for M&M 2E. I've copied the relevant section (along with some reasoning) into a Google doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EHvJn0YgsvyPORA0cHhwVZcbzg-rZjSg_9a_cmakNBo/edit?usp=sharing While they are for 2E, they include the same four issues that G...

This is what I was fucking talking about: options. You cannot make a rational actor worse off by expanding their choice set. Sure you can. Adding options can set up a prisoners dilemma. No, not even then. There are times when it is better to be irrational in certain problems, but that is not the sa...

I ran up a quick excel spreadsheet to calculate effects of "best-of" rolls on the mean. Rolls, equivalent bonus 1, +0 2, +1.37 3, +2.06 4, +2.49 5, +2.80 6, +3.04 (from this point only listing 1st 'best-of' that would round to the next integer bonus, and the closest match to ) 9, +3.51 15,...

Ok, that is true. Any binomial distribution will have the mean, median, and mode(s) that are very close (all must lie within a one unit interval). Interestingly this exposes an oddity. Take n as the number of dice and p as the chance of success on each dice. Then mean = np, and median = round(np) Th...

Why not set the standard DC based on the median (or whatever cdf percentage works) instead of the average?
That makes the shape of the tail independent of the standard success chance, and allows the game effect of the distribution's tail shape to be considered separately.

Jenna Moran's Nobilis is very close to 'Gaiman's Sandman: The RPG.' It is much more interested in adventures than interpersonal drama. It's follow-up, Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine, is more like a concept anime about an aggressively average kid who somehow builds a wish machine. The main ...

But yeah, I'd rather deal with a cheating DM than a drama whore, players are an audience DM, with all the requisite railroading, fuckery and powerlessness. I don't mean the players are the GMs audience. I mean the players (and the GM) are the audience for their joint activity. Secret rolls are like...

5E encourages players and DMs to "come up with their own backgrounds." Thus, I refuse on principle to sit at any table that won't let make "Murderhobo: Proficient in Thieves' Tools, Stealth, Perception, (feature depending on class)" as a background for my char. If I was to GM a ...
