Frank, even if we grant you all of that, it still fails to address the point of intentionality in criminal homicide. Except as provided in Subsections (3) and (4), a person commits criminal homicide if the person intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, with criminal negligence , or acting with a menta...

We're all very happy for that little explanation of what a miscarriage is, but the important part (based on what Lich-Loved has said, since I can't be arsed to navigate all those amendments) is: * the mother does so in a knowing, intentional manner. Last time I checked, miscarriage is not performed ...

1, 2, 4, and 5 are all correct, and 4 is the most correct. 3 is demonstrably false, as Bush never had the kind of supermajorities that Obama had and does, and he still got nearly everything passed that he wanted to get passed.

Game Design Talk at DICE 2010

Here is some guy talking about game design. And also Facebook, and also the iPad, and also the Big Brother-style future, and also misplaced utopian hopes, and also the X-Box, and also the Wii, and also psychology. He's giving a half-hour talk at DICE 2010, and I won't vouch for its quality, but par...

To get around munchkin powergamers from getting too powerful, sometimes I sent monsters after them which can permanently drain ability stats and/or levels. They obviously don't like it, but I give them fair warning at the beginning of the game of that possibility. Other ways is to do things which c...

A quickened ray of enfeeblement for a ninth level wizard is pretty much insulting. However, those alternate metamagic rules, while cool and elegant, are basically just free power for casters, which I'm really not sure they need. It does, however, transform their lower-level spell slots into potentia...

I don't understand this question. Those are the same thing. Clicky clicky.
Just for the record, that's not the "civil suit", that's the complaint filed by the plaintiffs. The defendants presumably also have some things they would like to say before they get gaveled in the head.

They can claim whatever they want, no judge is going to buy that story. I expect them to settle as soon as they can agree on how much money the school district gets to pay out.

I'm not sure if every Covenant, Cult, and Important Supernatural Individual needs the history book treatment. However, that last section you just added in Persona non Grata really managed to give a lot of information and flavor without taking 17K words to do so. More of that nature would be exceedi...

I genuinely can't believe I never thought to make such a thread, because this exact issue has been plaguing my life for the past three months. Thanks, ML. Notice that just among two people, when I ask why supernaturals don't kill humans instead of maintaining the Masquerade, I've gotten: 1) They simply can't kill everyone 2) They like having slaves 3) They have to keep someone around to eat 4) They don't realize how dangerous humans are 5) They're too...

I feel like I don't know enough about the world. Like, the following are probably important enough to at least warrant a few short paragraphs for those who are new to the game: Why is there a Masquerade? If humans are so dangerous, why don't supernaturals kill them all off? If humans are so dangerou...

You reach terminal velocity after falling for about 400 meters, so unless the aerodynamics of this plane are substantially different from Earth, you can't make a crater in hewn stone or solid stone. FYI.

Wow, they keep outdoing themselves. I feel like there's a 4E nuclear winter going on above ground, and I'm hiding in a bunker with my canned 3.5 and waiting for the sun to come out again. Which, judging by the idiots that are still working at Wizards, could take a very long time.

Shadowrun: It is my understanding that the Astral world is an exact reflection of the stuff in the mortal world, with the exception of the various spirits (Watcher, Fire, Beast, etc.) floating about, so if you wanted to move the aura of a plant, say, you could not do so without either moving the pla...

I'm going to take a stand here and say that I find the "between worlds" writeup unsatisfying, and would prefer something that doesn't allow for so many confusing edge cases. First the problems: An effect cannot extend a character into a solid object in the other world, so if a character is...

Well it shouldn't be arbitrarily high damage, because people don't fall at faster than terminal velocity. I think falling damage is supposed to top out at 20d6, maybe 30d6. So the rank 9 ability has to be rewritten to have a cap of some kind. Also, even on a plane with subjective gravity, this trick...

I honestly just don't let people take contacts with connections that high. A dick move, maybe, but I don't want to have to deal with a Shadowrunner being looked after by Lucien Cross. High connections can be super problematic. One of the few places I use nonlinear costs. But Lucien Cross is dead, s...
