In that case, what books are you allowed? This might help narrow down a build or something.

Thirded. May I also suggest Frank review a Rifts sourcebook? Especially one of the more insane ones?

Google Chrome has apparently decided that CPU Validators are malware links. So if someone has a CPU-Z Validator link in their sig, Google Chrome will throw a shit fit. I have no idea why. I'm also not really sure why someone would put overclocking validation into their signature on a Table Top Gami...

No, Innistrad is shit. The reason it contributes to Eternal formats is mostly due to very aggressive banlists in Vintage and Legacy and a lack of good things to work with elsewhere. If all you have is trash, then you'll see some of it as gold, but that doesn't mean it isn't trash. Innistrad was badl...

CCGs tend to be an excellent way to meet people and a terrible way to spend time. That being said, Magic has the largest reserve of misspent and poorly-used fantasy art in the publishing business. You must have a hella-better crowd over where you are! Most of the people who play CCGs of any stripe ...

I think I stopped paying attention when I went to a tourney and 80% of the decks were B/U human. Well there is basically no point at which standard has not been dominated by some anoying deck the card pool is so small that one deck or archatype often has disproportionately better cards. Rav/Spiral.

It's the most REFINED Table Top Game on the planet The amount of combined man hours put in is unparalleled. The designers also write nice articles about their reasoning behind decisions. And they are successful so it shows that their theory produces results. Except half the time, their reasoning (e...

I liked MtG. Then along came MaRo with his pants-on-head retarded 'creatures have to be at the centre of every deck' philosophy. Then they shipped a bunch of former 4rry edition designers over to MtG as a last-chancer division. Then they made Innistrad, which was the last straw. Now, I basically tak...

"The player who tells the best “Yo’ mama” joke goes first."

I foresee this taking a very long time for something this trivial. Why this instead of a roll-off? Also, for that matter, the best 'Yo mama' joke as judged by whom?

Is there any reason why your warrior actually has to be designed to require magical gear? If it's for the numbers, either design the monsters to not have such numbers, or give the numbers directly without forcing people to spend ability slots just to keep up with what the system expects. If it's for...

When I was 15 this book was awesome. Change into a dragon or an avangion? Fuck yeah! It hasn't aged well. I don't remember the BATTLESYSTEM stuff in there at all. But I do own the BATTLESYSTEM rulebook. I can see it sitting on my shelf while I write this. Maybe I'll get a little enough drunk to try...

DSM, that theory about the Tyranids is nothing short of inspired. I admit it's unlikely that this is what the canon authors intended, but it's still awesome.

There is no particular reason why class-and-level-based systems are inherently worse in general as compared with non-class-and-level-based ones. They do different things, and suit different genres. The current generation of game designers, both in video games and TTRPGs, by and large do not seem to...
