Tried running a 4th Edition combat against kobolds, with me as a player. Although I only have a limited grasp of the game, I prefer 3.X/Tome/True20 any day.

Why do we keep bitching about WotC's lack of game design when there are perfectly good D&D variants out there (like the Tomes, True20, etcetera)?
It's not like any of you are going to be forced to play 4th Edition.

Compulsory voting is like forcing people to be free.

As red-blooded Americans, we should have the freedom to not choose our leader!

You're on a channel that encourages internet trolling and child pornography; these two things are indeed some of the darkest, sickest things about the Internet. I don't find trolling dark and sick so much as annoying; when you encounter a user named "suckmynutz," it's your fault if you ta...

The bizzare pricing is bizzare, but also true to some elements of real life. $140 million will get you the most expensive painting in the world, or 140 really really really expensive paintings for $1 million each, and unless you're an epic level art collector you won't be able to tell the differenc...

I may end up writing an overhaul to the Ends of the Matrix rules in response to my findings. Why? I thought that "The Ends of the Matrix" was good enough. If you're doing it just because a new book came out, then don't; you can't please everybody, and if one were to alter house rules ever...

Let me put it to you this way... in 3000 years or myth and legend and thousands of bad fantasy novels, comics and movies, point to a large guy who does something beyond 'big and strong'. Conan became a King and was able to decipher ancient languages. Superman was strong, but was also able to solve ...

Not to mention that a rocket launcher may not get through reinforced vehicle armor on a tank.

I'm currently playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

It's a very fun game, and I love the wide amount of side quests; it's enough to keep me occupied for a long time.

What do you guys think of it?

Re: Idea: Consolidating Skills

What about Survival, Heal, Disable Device, UMD, and Open Lock? I decided to ditch the system (except for the Notice/Stealth part); however, I think that Know (Archit. & Eng.) should be combined with Disable Device and Open Lock. Those three skills should be called Engineer or something. As to B...

Somewhere, Frank defended "one skill", IIRC. I suppose you'll hear differently from others. I'm tempted to use Alchemy, Build and Craft. Any reasons why he suggested such? Personally, I'm all fort it; being an expert blacksmith/tailor isn't going to come up much, especially when you can u...

One more question: the Craft skill in a Tome game; discard it, combine all Craft skills into one skill (like someone suggested), or leave as is?
