There's 2 mentor spirits that give +2 Something +2 Binding, but nobody gives +2 Summoning outright. I'm not sure it's actually better than +2 Spirit Type, which is both Summoning and Binding for one type, though.

These have generally been already answered but I wanted to add on the spirit: use wide (not narrow) bursts. The extra DV from narrow bursts won't help bypass ITNW, but the extra net hits you get because you wide bursted do. If SnS isn't nerfed, you can easily drop it in one action, if you get an act...

Tattooed Sorcerer's SLA thing is even more crap than that. It doesn't work on things that have expensive material components and PF doesn't have XP costs (anything that used to seems to now just have expensive components). So no cheese. It's better than a base sorcerer, but you can probably do bette...

The idea that you have to nerf the bejeezus out of D&D magic as a starting point to making anything that anyone will recognize as belonging to the same conceptual space as the D&D fighter work is pretty much correct. I just doubt that you can actually do that in any way that isn't more work ...

I'd argue that step 1 should be figuring out how you want things to work, and then step 2 should be figuring out an in-universe explanation for why they work that way, and step 3 should be rules that enforce that. Do you want guns to be useless, useless against immortals, ineffective but not totally...

There's no actual rules for converting weapons to miniguns, though. I think they meant to have them like they have HV rules, but nope.

Yes. Pistols are better than automatics in the niche of very concealable weapons. Heavy Weapons are better than automatics in the niches of unconcealable but really rad weapons and in having OK AE attacks (grenade launchers). Automatics are OK at both. Longarms mostly blow goats but you can get a si...

Yeah, that's fucked up. I was pondering a switch to Longarms, but now shotguns seem to be single/short burst only, final destination. So... not much better than a proper AR. Longarms are a one-trick pony. The only reason to use them is the ability to get a silenced sniping weapon; for any other pur...

The Auto-Assault 16 is the only really usable shotgun because it comes with Gas-Vents, which for inexplicable reasons can't be installed on any other shotgun. You can't use APF ammo with choke. Shotguns use the choke rule with shot, which works like Flechette, but isn't Flechette, and there's no Arm...

It's actually debatable; you might take the -2 multiple targets penalty or you might not, because the text conflicts with itself as usual. What's more important is that you don't have to split your dicepool like you do for dual-wield; a -2 penalty is small change compared to that. FA + choke on shot...

Well, at least we agree that Shadowrun is poorly edited. I have always seen it run the other way, but such are the consequences of SR being edited by drunken lemurs. Re: dual wield (rather than 'consecutive wield' or whatever you want to call shooting a weapon in each hand but on separate actions), ...

Accessories aren't mods. The HVBR can totally take "underbarrel" mods, it just can't take Underbarrel accessories or Barrel accessories. I am pretty sure the 1 RC that the sling grants is part of the "longarms/heavy weapon" only thing. Especially since they then go on to have rul...

You can't take Permanent Infusion (Sideways) like that. You take Mysterious Implant (10 bp), and then the GM chooses Mysterious Implant(s) worth 10 bp without telling you. Hardware, Demolitions, and Locksmith are all bad skill choices. Hardware and Demolitions are both things you just suck at. Do yo...

Yeah, it's actually very hard to hit jack shit with a rocket and they lose damage really fast. This is also why High Explosive and Frag grenades are sketchy. They are inaccurate and lose damage too fast to actually be good at taking out groups of people, unless the people are kind enough to be stand...

Buying hits in SR is kind of like taking 10 in D&D: you can only do it when not stressed (or if you have a huge pool and the GM agrees you are unlikely to fail). It is totally true that - past a certain point - Iaijutsu is just as good as Quickdraw, because the difference between a 3 threshold a...

So here's the ork Sam I came up with. Samuel Vega Metatype: Ogre (Ork Metavariant) (20 BP) Ogre gets you -20% lifestyle and Distinctive Style over ork. Could I make a throwing adept that can two shot people equally well? Is dodging gunfire something that's a waste of resources? Yes, and maybe. The key to making a throwing adept that doesn't suck balls is to have a way to throw two throwing weapons per pass. If you can't do that you will suck balls...

That's defensible. But the bottom line is still that the exact way Aptitudes interact with skill values is very much debatable. Your aptitudes are affected by your body, and your starting aptitudes affect your starting skill values, and changing your body is supposed to change your skill values, bu...

You do have the severe problem that you are completely fucked if you ever have to do something while not in ape form, or if you get stuck in a Background Count. The setting has some interesting ideas with a healthy sprinkling of fail and stupid mixed in. The system is pure undiluted garbage. My rant about how shitty it is is http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?p=233581&highlight=#233581 in that thread Frank just linked. Summary of how not to suck: Willpo...
